Song challenge (updated edit)

I listen to music a lot while I write, just to get me in a certain mood. I think it would be neat if we did a song challenge where we upload songs that remind us of the fandom, if it’s a pairing, a situation, or whatever. Then other members can volunteer to write a fic inspired by that song. This wouldn’t be songfics (example:

OH BABY I LOVE YOU

“I love you!” screamed Bob. )

Maybe it’s just me, but splicing lyrics and fic always distracts me from the story being told. I’m thinking more like an interpretive dance, only in fic form, if that makes any sense- the song would be a prompt. We would upload an mp3, lyrics, and maybe what the song makes us think of . Then, write a fic using someone else's song as a prompt.

What do you guys think? I was thinking we could do an honor system, where you write as many fics as songs that you post. Maybe we could post the prompts and song uploads in friends locked entries in [livejournal.com profile] 20yearsofdwarf and post the resulting fics here.

Suggestions/comments? :B

EDIT: I made a post to organize the song prompts. http://community.livejournal.com/20yearsofdwarf/6460.html?mode=reply

I always thought The Ramone's I Just Want to Have Something to Do (http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/ramones/ijustwanttohavesomethingtodo.html) would make a great Listter/Rimmer themed song.

I like it -- but what if instead of just posting stories and the corresponding songs, we also posted, for example, songs that we'd like someone else to interpret?

You already know I love this idea. ;) This is exciting!

I will be all over this. However, most of my mp3s are from iTunes, which means I can't share them. Hmpf. I'll think of something.
