I posted this ages ago, but after Photobucket broke everyone's images, I figured I'd re-upload it and share it anew.

Imagine an episode where the sci-fi gizmo-of-the-week scans copies of Rimmer's and Lister's DNA, and spits out a clone that's biologically their child.

I can't tell if he'd have a blend of their various issues, or, since he wasn't actually raised by them, be shockingly healthy and well-adjusted.

Jan pointed out to me that the Red Dwarf Introcast podcast came back up for a while at the end of last year to review Series XI - you can Google it or, if you have an iTunes or Android enabled device, you can search for it in your podcast server-thingy and subscribe, then download those six episodes to listen to (or the entire podcast history).

If you've never heard of this podcast, you should check it out. The premise is that this sci-fi-savvy American couple a few years ago, who had never heard of Red Dwarf, agreed to co-host a podcast with a British fan, and did so episode by episode, watching each new only before recording for THAT particular episode. So you're getting a fresh reaction and review. They caught up through Series X in their original run, then reassembled like the Avengers last year to take on XI.

(I'm still listening to the "Twentica" episode, but one of the laughs in it is when Shane, the veteran, tells the couple, Heath and Angela, about the fuck-up on the Blu-Ray steelbook last November - remember, the distributor originally printed on it not the Series XI titles, but Series XII episode titles? Heath and Angela immediately start naming their own episode titles for XII, including "Episode 3: Lister and Rimmer Finally Get Married" and "Episode 4: Lister and Rimmer Divorce and Lister Marries Kochanski, but Then They Get Divorced and He Marries Rimmer Again." No, they're not slash fans, but they're pretty good sports about it existing, and the joke is just good clean fun, LOL.)

Anyway, it's good to while away a week of your life if you listen nonstop and don't sleep, so go download it ...

They found Cat’s feet peeking out from shade thrown by a giant umbrella on a semi-cloudy beach, while a tape player to his side blasted island music and Kryten stood over a cooler twenty feet away shaking a sweating metal tumbler sloshing and clinking ice within. “Bet you can fairly taste that seafood, eh, Listy?” Rimmer nudged him in the side with a stage whisper as they stopped next to Cat’s lounge chair.

Lister didn’t argue the point. He raised his foot and kicked lightly at the underside of Cat’s big toe. When nothing happened, he did it again with more force and said, “Hey, man. Why’d you pull a runner?”

I'm backing this community up to Dreamwidth (or re-backing it up, rather).

I will be deleting my personal LJ due to the migration to Russian servers. Most pages are no longer protected under the HTTPS site, meaning entries are less secure than they could be. This version of LJArchive has worked for me for downloading my journal with comments intact.

I don't expect everyone to create a Dreamwidth account just to participate over there, however if people don't want to move it would be great if someone who intends to stay on LJ would step up to moderate here.

I'm not happy about this, because I don't want to give up modship of this comm, when the RDSS and Red Dwarf Slash have been my babies for so long. But I am more concerned about privacy.

I will not be deleting this community from Livejournal unless the majority of members decide it is feasible to move to Dreamwidth. So don't panic! Those drabble trees are safe!
