I have taken on The Starbuggers for fanfic100. I really like VI; I think things came to a head in that series. All of the characters were stuck together in a small space and were very much getting to each other to an unprecedented extent, and especially between Rimmer and Lister, tension went sky-high. But Rimmerworld and Out Of Time changed Rimmer immensely, and between VI and VII, something changed between those two. I love speculating on what that was, and on what happened in the gaps between the episodes.

Takes place between Legion and Gunmen of the Apocalypse. General spoilers up through the latter.

Ohhh, very nice--you really captured the tension between them well. I'm not a fan of VI as a whole (besides Gunmen), but there's a lot of great stuff in the Rimmer/Lister dynamic (and I especially love seeing just post-Legion Rimmer).

Yes, there's a useful aspect to the whole hard-light thing. ;) Indeed, I found something slashy in the idea of Rimmer and Lister both 'seeing' the same love doll.
