Two Drabbles, Rimmer/Lister implied

Please go easy on me. I've never posted to a community before. If I do something wrong, please let me know so that I may fix it.

Also, these are my first humble attempts at Red Dwarf fanfiction.

Title: Mistaken
Story type: Drabble
Pairing: Rimmer/Lister, could be read as gen

Spoilers: Inspired by Series VIII

---

I caught you again, you stupid git. You probably think you're getting away with it.

Smeg.

Right, I forgot of whom I speak. 'Oblivious,' thy name is Lister.

It's those little questioning looks, those odd pauses after I've dared to let my guard down in front of you. They're filled with such expectation and hope. They're driving me mad. It's like you believe if you say the right thing or wait long enough it will trigger something in me to bring it all back.

The trouble is, Listy, it's not amnesia when the memories were never mine to begin with.

"Not in a million years. Not if you were the last human being alive." How many blokes have heard those words or those like 'em over the course of humankind? Kryten would know, or maybe Holly, given enough time. She's slow, but she gets there in the end doesn' she?

I glance behind me to the figure focused on the readouts at his station. He doesn't realise I'm watchin' him and I find me'self lookin' longer than I should. I don't see as much of that smug bastard he hides behind when I look at 'em like this. I turn back 'round. There was a time I wouldn' have looked twice at the smeghead.

I look at him now.

When it's like this, all quiet-like on board and there's peace for a'time, I watch him. He's neuroses wrapped up tight as an onion in just as many layers, but I wonder, not for the first time, what I'd find at his center if I worked at peelin' them all back.

Somehow, I feel his eyes on the back of me head, movin' slow in a phantom caress and I smile to me'self.

No. Never in a million years. Possibly three...

Welcome!

The first one is just killer. And I am down with the second one. Really nice Listervoice, lovely and evocative.

Ooh. I liike these. The first one is awesome. VIII-Rimmer always hurts to see, simply because of what he isn't. The second one brings a smile, because I've heard that saying too...;)

Welcome!

These are lovely - more good writers! Hurrah!

Right, I forgot of whom I speak. 'Oblivious,' thy name is Lister.
What an excellently Rimmerine turn of phrase.

The trouble is, Listy, it's not amnesia when the memories were never mine to begin with.
Ouch. But yes, that's just it, isn't it?

what I'd find at his center if I worked at peelin' them all back.
*images of Lister gently caressing and undressing Rimmer enters mind*
Guh.

Ack! The first one *nod*. I like very, very much! ;)

The trouble is, Listy, it's not amnesia when the memories were never mine to begin with.
Top line.

Welcome :)

Yeah....Other said so already, but great stuff. The first one is especially poignant. I always feel so sorry for poor VIII Rimmer.

I loved the second one with the Lister voice, I could hear Craig Charles' voice in my head as I read it! Loved the last line of the first one as well.

"The trouble is, Listy, it's not amnesia when the memories were never mine to begin with."

Awesome. So blunt and true.

You wrote something. Image

I love the first one because it's sad and true. The last line sounds like something he would say, and the second is great. Let lister think that he would need such a long time, doubtful. Rimmer was looking good to him after the first millon.

You wrote something good. Image You make me want to look for the very few R/L stories, you do.

Soon as I posted it, I realize I meant longer... its been awhile since I seen the series. :)

Shock? Just a slight jolt.

Oh, I really like that second one. And what a great closing line!
