Meep, that just came out of the Rimmerthoughts. I think he thinks, at some level, that a real man doesn't cry at romantic movies, or hug his friends - a real man is up the ziggarut and homophobic and all of that good stuff. And it conveeeniently makes it OK to be... interested in Lister, doesn't it.

Ja, het and slash hand in hand - the one thing that Nirvanah and Lister had in common was that they both thought Rimmer could be a better person if he got rid of the shell of neuroses and snark. But Nirvanah was the one who said so outright.
