Aha! Taking the easy way out rarely works for the best. I like this, a very fitting adendum to the story.

Actually, I never saw the end of OOT as Rimmer wanting to kill them. He did comunicate the message but that doesn't mean the decision wasn't mutual. They all seemed pretty far gone when they were on the present Starbug. The bodyectomy is an interesting and chilling idea, but I don't think that's likely. Kryten would have gone homocidal (or hologramcidal, or whatever), and Lister or what was left of him would have been likely to hold a gruge, and he seemed to agree with everyone elses charming views (altough what is the use of beeing an epicure if you're just a brian in a jar is beyond me). So all of them had to potential to be extremly nasty. Everyone does. Perhaps it just seemed closer to the surface with Rimmer. Well, that's my idea of it anyway. Sorry for the ramble.

Oh, I agree with you on both points, from the objective standpoint. I was just trying to write this from Lister's POV, and just some of the things that might swirl around in his head. He's not stupid, but like I said in another fic once, fears don't have to be rational to keep you up at night. I just thought that there might be a connection between it being Rimmer's face on the monitor, and Lister's actions in Stoke.
