Drabble: Positive Thinking- L/Koch, R/L (imp) - PG
Title: Positive Thinking
Pairing: Lister/Kochanski, Rimmer/Lister (implied)
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I don't own Red Dwarf, or any of the characters thereof. I make no money from this.
Spoilers: None.
Notes: Thanks to
fiareynne for the conversation which inspired this.
Some people might call pining away for a woman who's been dead several million years sort of pathetic and creepy.
Lister prefers to think of it as 'cheerfully optimistic'.
He has to think that, so he'll forget how sort of creepy and pathetic it really is. He has to hold on to Kochanski; the idea of her, even though, in truth, he's almost forgotten what she feels like underneath his hands, against his skin, on his tongue...
He has to keep believing she's all he's got, because the alternative is unthinkable. And keeps flaring his nostrils at him in disgust.

I always thought of Lister pining for Kochanski as 'stubborn and unrealistic'. But that's just me :)
