BtE drabbles
Spoilers, obviously, if you haven't seen the new episodes.
Guilty
He looks at me questioningly as I leave the bunkroom, dressed up, with flowers and a tatty book I stole from her quarters under my arm.
I know he’ll try and say something, and I brace myself for it. Usually it’s a pained, “Give her my regards,” or forced, indifferent “Sunday again, is it?”
I refuse to feel guilty for visiting a past lover. Not in these circumstances.
He eyes me thoughtfully, mulling over what to say. I feel a twinge of betrayal.
“You look nice,” he says evenly. Then, turning away, he mumbles, “Don’t stay all night again, Listy.”
8 Seconds
The game was ongoing. Rimmer made elaborate plans and detailed timetables for what they would do in the bedroom, and Lister would joyfully sabotage them. The trick to it was getting Ironballs to come as quickly as possible. This was doubly satisfying because it was fun to keep score and upstage himself, and it routinely frustrated his lover.
“The time to beat is twenty seconds…”
“Lister! This isn’t the…”
“Mmm…’
“Oh…oh God…”
“Starting…now.”
“… … …”
“…Listy! … …oh…mmm, that was….wait, smeg!”
“Brutal! A new record.”
“…Nonsense! It was at least eight minutes.”
“Well…it has an eight in it, yeah.”
