Slashers London Meet

Howdy y'all!

After meeting up for the first time last month, [livejournal.com profile] fearcat and I were wondering who else would be up for a Red Dwarf slashers meet in London at some point in the next few months? Would be lovely to meet up with a few more slashy peeps, especially before Dimension Jump in April 2011.

Drop a comment here if you'd be interested. Thanks muchly. ^__^

I'll definitely be in London around November 13th - not sure how long I'm staying, or for how many days before or after. Would be brilliant if we could schedule it around that time!

Brick Lane curries, y/y?? :D

I've been contemplating taking a full week off, depending on whether or not [livejournal.com profile] cobos and I will be going to Belgium or not, which he'll know in the next week or so, hopefully. Work schedules and so forth. In which case, I could do the weekend before or after. :)

Sunday the 14 would absolutely be the easiest for me, as I've just realized I have plans the weekend before (but only on one day, not that this helps much). :/

I should be able to manage that - half two is good, as anything earlier would be difficult. I'm expecting the Saturday to be somewhat epic. o_O

Just looking at the site - there's no mention of which Tube station, but I'm assuming it's Southwark?

[identity profile] kahvi.livejournal.com 2010-10-07 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
That's what it said, but it didn't look like that on the map... Righty, looks like it'll be fairly straightforward for me (as much as any travel on the district line can be) to get there! :)

If we could make it three, that'd be brilliant. I've just worked out that it'll take me three quarters of an hour to get there (I'm staying in Putney).

[identity profile] kahvi.livejournal.com 2010-10-07 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh sure, the later the better, for me! :)

Nah, I'll have to change at Westminister, but at least there's only one change. But yeah, not the two best lines, really. That's life when you're staying in scenic downtown Putney! I'll sort it out. :)

Rambly aside: People (notably: never people who actually live in London) tell you that the Tube system is so horribly complicated, but I've always found it rather color coded and cheerfully simple. Except that one time in 2008 when I was going to see Boosh with a friend. I was staying at a hotel at Earl's Court at the time, so I was going to take the the Tube to Wembley from there. Being overconfident, I didn't think to check the schedules or the map, as I'd been navigating the district line for a week at that point, and I've been to London more times that I could count. I felt like a native.

I'm sure you can see what's coming.

I ended up going in the complete opposite direction, and by the time I realized, there was no chance of me getting to the venue in time. In my defense, I was an idiot rather ill at the time, but I was still gutted.

[identity profile] diminua.livejournal.com 2010-10-03 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd definitely be up for that - any date should be good for me 'cos I'm in the area anyway.

[identity profile] fearcat.livejournal.com 2010-10-07 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
What's the plan guys? should I book the 13th and 14th?

Have you looked at youth hostels? http://www.yha.org.uk/

[identity profile] kahvi.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
http://www.easyhotel.com/

It's the only place I stay in London, when I'm not staying with friends. I can really recommend them! There's lots of other places to stay for cheap too, if you know where to look. But I'd go for an Easy Hotel, if you could. :)

[identity profile] fearcat.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
oh cool not bad prices :)
well I can do the 13th and 14th or any weekend really so just tell me when so I can book.
