Oh, when you said Rimmer-angst you weren't kidding! I really liked this, the image of Rimmer running his hands across the ship while everyone else is asleep just seems so tragic but so true in a way. Really nice work, thanks for sharing!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I actually was thinking of the Timeslides bit when Rimmer was so excited to be able to touch and feel... that struck me as a rather interesting angle on his existence. And we never hear a peep about Rachel again. ;) Methinks he re-evaluated his priorities.

You know, eternal optimist that I am, I kept thinking throughout this, "yeah, but he doesn't know, does he? It might actually work..." As in, I could totally see Rimmer angsting himself into a corner, as it were, with the hard-light drive failing to work because he didn't think it would work. Because he's a pessimist with low self-esteem. ;)
