(no subject)

Just had another thought. I wish we all lived closer together. Then we could meet up, find a pub, have several drinks, and write one ultra - slashy story! Finally got a twitter account, too. I'm @craigchaelesyay if anybody has a twitter account too. And who's this Dave I keep reading about when reading about Red Dwarf? And I love the Hudzen 10 too!

"Dave" is the British cable channel that's funding the new series. :)

I was going to say that. But you beat me too it. *sighs*

*Tries to look suitably penitent* Um ... sorry. ;)

No, perfectly fine. ;D * goes back to cuddling Mr B.*

If there's a Dimension Jump convention in September 2013, I'll be visiting London then :D

I know they're not planning one for 2012 because the Olympics would make it impossible, but there has been rumor of one for 2013 after the series airs.

And I'm in a flyover state in the US, so I know how you feel.

Try living in Iowa. Besides never having anything remotely cool near us, half the country thinks we are so backwards that we don't have running water or indoor toilets. Gets a bit annoying to say the least. If you're into anything remotely odd or different there is no place to find what you are looking for.

It's bloody irritating.

Flyover state: One in which they do not stop, they simply ignore. In other words, they fly over in the plane.

Oh, I've been called that, But I was called that because I happened to have a crush on a girl at the time... but I digress...

Ironically, also one of the only six states to legally recognize gay marriage. I still can't figure that out given the overall politics of the state as a whole.

and probably not for long due to the fact that our Governor campaigned on changing that.

We have done this a few times in the past. A group of us met in a pub in London in 2009 (and the following year in a restaurant in London) - and not just UK members! We had English, Norwegian, Czech, German..... ^__^

Sounds like a great idea. Would obviously need a lot of planning, though. :)

Ugh, one day I will join.

techh_ism (http://techh_ism.livejournal.com) and I are planning a trip to London for my 24th birthday (2014) so we can recreate Lister's 24th birthday from Infinity. Maybe around then the rest of ya'll might plan something too.

I joined my brother on a Monopoly board pub crawl one year. We never made it round the board....

(Isn't it his 25th birthday? Or am I remembering that wrong?)

[identity profile] veronica-rich.livejournal.com 2012-01-14 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
How many drinks does the crawl take? When I was 21, I could put away 15 or so hard drinks and still play pool at the end of the night (better than sober, actually). I suspect it wouldn't be so easy now, but as long as there's no vodka, I might do all right at a number near that.

26 pubs. It's a pretty tall order. I bought a round of champagne for him at The Strand and it all went downhill from there... :-S

Techh and I think it'll be fun to try.

(The book says 25th, but if you think about it it doesn't make sense. If Lister turned 25 then spent 6 months on Mimas before joining the Dwarf, then 7 months before stasis, he would be 26 after stasis but he still says he's 25. So unless Lister is lying about his age, it had to be his 24th.)

[identity profile] goku-lover21.livejournal.com 2012-01-29 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
It's kind of like a drinking game. Google it.

[identity profile] goku-lover21.livejournal.com 2012-01-29 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Well, no. Lister didn't age when he was in stasis, so he would be the same age getting out as when he got in. If you read the books they describe the stasis process better than in the show.
