RDX dvd

Just checked out TOS and it seems that there is going to be no cast commentary on the new series DVD.  I suppose this isn't a huge surprise given how hard it is to get all the boys together, and perhaps they felt it would be pointless to reminise over a series they'd only just completed - but I for one am gutted.  Most people are saying that the documentary will make up for that,  but for me one of the best things is listening to the boys interact rather than talking to camera.  I know we should be very grateful to be getting a new series at all but this still makes me sad.  :-(

It's sadly disappointing. I almost wonder if at some point they'll add that and re-release an updated version - would mean more sales, if they can make more from it than DVD manufacturing and actor/mix crew costs.

I'm gutted about the lack of a cast commentary too, even though I know we've been very spoilt with previous releases.

This almost looks like RD's version of a vanilla DVD i.e. still packed with extras, just not as many. I suspect they may be holding stuff back for a special edition or a boxset. :/

I tweeted His Lordship Doug Naylor and I haven't gotten a response but basically asking if it was possible for them to record something and put it up on the internet for download, once everybody could be gathered together. Kind of like Rifftrax or something like that. [livejournal.com profile] janamelie mentioned that they could do it at DJ.

I got spoilt by The LOTR's DVDs. I never listened to Commentaries until then. Then I had to listen to the Red Dwarf Commentaries.

The commentary was one of the things I looked forward to the most on each release. Talking to the camera is fine, but hearing them interact with each other was so amazing. All of their chemistry, and they were so funny. You're right, it probably is too early to be reminiscing on a commentary, but sad face. :(
