Dwarfer goodness

Saw these recently in various locations and thought some of you might enjoy:

Also: My RDX fic at AO3 has been gaining kudos quickly, faster than previous docs. I wonder if the fandom is picking up more people, or what. It's interesting for that reason (I'm not bragging or anything, just curious).

I don't think the pics are spoilery, but would appreciate a pointer to your AO3 (so that I may favorite & bookmark ALL THE FICS pronto). :-)

omg cat's costume in that first picture is bangin'! and i NEVER use that word.

It really is a great outfit. :D

I've had some more kudos recently too. I imagine the new series is creating new fans and bringing back casual ones. :)

I've seen an upward swing in activity too. It's very encouraging to see the fandom so lively :-)

Cat looks very displeased in that last episode, I wonder why?

It would make sense fans are coming with the new series. That'll be nice, having some new peeps. I just converted my friend!

The top one, are they outside Shepperton?

I would love to know the joke told in the second. Chris loved it, Danny's nearly cringing, Bobby looks like a dad who found his kid fingerpainting the walls, and Craig is almost disbelief.

re: AO3 - I've seen a few more, but they trickle in at odd times. What blows my mind is that the barely-16 year old Rimmer story has almost 600 hits, yet I don't think people are actually reading it. I think I scared them away *grin*

I should probably put more of my stories up there. It'll pull formatting from LJ, yes? *ponders*

[identity profile] janamelie.livejournal.com 2012-10-10 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, you can import stories from LJ to A03. :)

It's interesting on A03 - huge fandoms like "Sherlock" have stories which are tagged to the point where they practically tell you the entire plot in the summary. Obviously warnings should be given where appropriate, but sometimes it's just silly.

I only mentioned that because your prostitution fic's the most tagged RD fic I've seen on there, but it's not overdone - they're all necessary warnings IMO. :)

Well, yeah. I would have listed more, if I could have thought of them! I think it's a curiosity - people are wondering what the smeg would warrant so many warnings, then they read the summary and s-l-o-w-l-y back away :D I did manage to reread it and could enjoy (not quite the word, but you know what I mean). It wasn't active in my head anymore, so I had just enough distance to see what worked and what didn't. There are some bits I'm still not happy with, but that's the nature of writing. It's never done.

I used to hate warnings. In Sentinel fandom, they were an art form unto themselves. I'll warn for major stuff and of course if there's graphic sex, but I'm not worried about every little thing. I like to be surprised in stories - hence my anti-spoiler stance :D

[identity profile] janamelie.livejournal.com 2012-10-10 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, trust me, your tags are modest compared to many. Example:

No Archive Warnings Apply, Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, Molly Hooper/Greg Lestrade, Sherlock Holmes & John Watson, Jim Moriarty/John Watson, Jim Moriarty/Harry Watson, Irene Adler/Sherlock Holmes, Anderson/Sally Donovan, Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, John Watson's Parents, Molly Hooper, Greg Lestrade, Jim Moriarty, Mycroft Holmes, Harry Watson, Anderson (Sherlock), Sally Donovan, Irene Adler, Crossover, Fluff, Romance, Romantic Friendship, Unrequited Love, Literature, Misunderstandings, Headcanon: Sherlock Holmes is Darcy

Many are much ruder than that. ;)

Your fic stands out because it's unusual in RD fandom. :) BTW, I see you're uploading your fics. If you want to maximise their hits, you might want to put today's date on all of them so that they're at the top of Page 1.

[identity profile] kronette.livejournal.com 2012-10-10 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Now that's just insane. When warnings get that elaborate, I skip right over them.

I'm torn on changing the posting date on my stories. I like to keep record of when I actually wrote/posted them. I'm not that concerned with hits - when I found RD fandom online then the stories on here and AO3, I started at the oldest and worked my way up to current day (for the most part). It was harder to find Brittas/Lara fic, but I did, and then Tomb Raider.

[identity profile] janamelie.livejournal.com 2012-10-10 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I think there's an option for 2 dates - one of completion, one of publication. Up to you. :)

[identity profile] felineranger.livejournal.com 2012-10-10 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel that tags/warnings should only really be used to give readers the gist of the fic so that they know what to expect and to flag up any kinks which some readers may find unpalatable. I don't think you need to list every character and event within the story - its nice to hold back some surprises.

Aww, thanx for posting those, they're adorable!!
