Series XI

I was thinking (at one-thirty this morning, when it was too hot to sleep, mind you), if there's a series XI, with all the emphasis put on Lister wanting to find Kochanski, what if Naylor's angling to turn XI into a TV adaptation of Last Human? Because Rimmer's growing confidence could play into that, because if he met Michael McGruder it'd be a double letdown, because of the stuff Yvonne fed Michael and the realisation on Rimmer's part that he's even less than the truth, if that makes sense (which I doubt, because, you know, one-thirty; I wasn't thinking that clearly).

Thoughts, Dwarfers?

Hmmm, after the events of "Trojan", Rimmer would be all *SPOILERS* "This is all rubbish, isn't it, son?" and tell Michael the truth without too much shame, then be horrified when the truth dawns that his son really is successful.

That's what I think anyway.

(I find this an interesting topic even if no-one else does. ;) )

Someone on TOS who admitted she hasn't read "Last Human" suggested Philip Labey for MM, but obviously he's at least a decade too young.

I think it's quite a plausible and fascinating idea that Doug might adapt "LH" for the screen. It wouldn't be the first time - "White Hole" was adapted by Grant Naylor from an already published book.

Obviously he'd presumably make considerable alterations. Hopefully one change would be Rimmer's fate.

Although, with Doug, if he kills off Rimmer, he'd just bring him back in his 644th incarnation to date as a hologram. And then not say why or how. :-P

I don't have much to add to this topic just because I've been pounding the drum for Michael for two years now, so I'm perfectly happy to see the kid show up if need be. I'm far more interested in seeing who would be cast for it, at this point. ;-)
