Title: Smoking
Rating: U - possibly one of the tamest things I've ever written
Pairing: Rimmer/Lister
Summary: Rimmer tries to convince Lister to give up smoking

kms726 for proof reading. Dedicated to the Virgin Pendalino service from London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street - my muse apparently.
Rimmer watched as Lister performed the much practiced ritual of extracting a cigarette from the pack.
He’d somehow managed to perfect something that Rimmer thought only ever happened in the movies – tapping the packet once, so a single ciggie protruded through the foil, ready for Lister’s lips.
This time though, human and hologram locked eyes.
Lister raised his eyebrows, the unlit cigarette still dangling between his lips.
“You should really think about giving up smoking,” said Rimmer, his voice a perfect balance between considerate and preachy.
To his credit, Lister did consider this...for a second.
“Nah,” he said, the cigarette now tucked to the side of his mouth. “I’m fine...” he brought the lighter up to his lips. “Besides...” Lister’s eyes lit up like the end of his cigarette “...I only smoke when I’m bored...”.
“Oh very funny,” sneered Rimmer.
Years later, the hologram realised that after he had accepted Lister into his bed and the tangled web of emotions that went with it, the Scouser rarely smoked.
