Introcast off hiatus - tangent topic

I found out the Red Dwarf Introcast people recorded their latest podcast today, which will post sometime later this week, most likely - for those of you besides me keeping up with that.

For those of you NOT keeping up, you if you've wanted to sort of jump in and start, this might be a good point to do so. They've done the first six seasons already (you can find them in archive on their site, and some through iTunes podcasts); this week is "Tikka to Ride." The two newbies aren't allowed to be spoiling themselves before any episode they see, so there will be Big Changes as they get into S7 - especially SMAC, which I would surmise will be recorded next week. That's how it usually works, anyway (they've been on a hiatus because of graduations, vacations, etc.).

An extra feature to tide over podcast subscribers was the "Spoilercast" recorded last month. It featured only a handful of longtime fans who have participated in past podcasts, not the newbies at all - the oldies talked about how they think Heath and Angela (the newbie couple) will react to the changes after S6. I admit, it will be interesting to see how they adjust to no Rimmer, given they made the point in one of their latest podcasts that they don't think the show could survive without him. *G*

I'm looking forward to it. :) I think Angela especially will be pleased and intrigued at the glimpses of Kochanski in the credits sequence. I wonder if they'll guess it's her, given that it's a different actress?

I do wonder though how they'll respond to SMAC in particular and the direction Series 7 goes in. I hope it doesn't deter them too much. :/

If anyone's on Facebook, they discuss it there too, but unfortunately you have to be a member of the site to read that.

It sounds like they're planning on having the actual episode up soon, though. I was pretty proud of how I did on the quiz. The future questions were great. I did notice that one of the questions in another round - how many "smeg"s there were in the whole series - technically encompassed the series they haven't watched yet. I was hoping for an episode, but the quiz was pretty fun anyway.

Their Facebook page (which I read when my brother's logged in) makes it clear they've already recorded "Tikka" though, so hopefully it'll be up shortly.

"Tikka" is up! :) http://thereddwarfpodcast.podbean.com/2013/06/21/season-7-episode-1-tikka-to-ride/

"Ouroboros" will probably confuse them because Chris does have a cameo in it, so it might take until "Duct Soup". And then of course "Blue" will confuse them all over again. *Lol* :)

I think they're vaguely aware that he's in Series X so they'll know he comes back at some stage.

I wonder what they'll think of Norman's return in "Nanarchy". More pleased he's back or annoyed that Hattie isn't? *Leaping ahead* ;)

I'm really excited that they'll be back, but apprehensive about their reaction to S7, especially because the no spoilers rule means that no one can reassure them that Rimmer will come back. I hope they stick it out.

I'm sure Angela will be happy to have Kochanski join the show, but I wonder how she'll feel about the writing for her.

Yes, Angela may find it's a case of "Be careful what you wish for" with some of the writing Chloe gets. It does improve as it goes along though.

I'm also looking forward to their reaction to "Blue". ;)

Oh don't get me wrong, I really like KK, especially in S7, and especially in the scenes where she gets to be deeply neurotic. What I don't like is that a lot of the humour for her is about her being "a girl", as opposed to character comedy (and I think this is worse in 8 than in 7). I expect Angela to pick up on that, too.

I'd stick with it, too (and did), but their comment about the show needing Rimmer worries me just a tad.

I'm listening to the SMAC episode, and am thrilled that the newbies love the episode so much. It's one of my all-time favourites. And they mention Lister's tenderness towards Rimmer.

Finally managed to listen to it. They really love "Stoke". Hope "Ouroboros" isn't too much of a letdown.

The "tenderness" line was nice. And the praise for both Chris and Craig's acting. :)

Um, sorry. I can't seem to unembolden this post. ;)
