Ficlet - "Fear" - and Rimmervid v. 1.3
A ficlet sequel to Monster. I think I have 2 emotionally incompatible AUs going on, so I divvyed the fics into 1 and 2. This comes in 2, after Monster. The boys demanded that they not be left just sitting there not talking, so I moved on. Kahvi is right - they do take on a life of their own!
I noticed in VI that Rimmer pretty much stayed soft-light until something happened that necessitated going to hard-light. But in VII, he was always hard-light. This was probably due in reality to some minor costume-change preference, but I can run with it, can't I?
I don't trust you, Listy.
I also made a few changes to the Rimmervid - call it v1.3. Simbi Ani made a good point about putting in titles, so I did that as well.
Putfile - small download.
Right-click and save - big file.

Good point about the Rimmer-panic, or lack thereof. It's true, he's like; "huh?" Like he almost can't connect with the idea that someone could be attracted to him. Oh dear... That sounds so sad...
Lister did the right thing, 'twas a good ending. Rimmer then going quietly back to read was good too. I have to wonder what's going on in his mind...

I would guess that's exactly how it played out in Rimmer's mind. Lister is trying to counteract the "Rimmer hates himself" mojo, after all. And the latter seems surprised, not horrified.
I can't imagine that he's doing a good job of concentrating on his book! This is all about gestures, though; showing trustworthiness, showing trust, dipping a toe into giving Listy access to Rimsy's vulnerabilities.
