"Red Dwarf Introcast" Review "Blue"

For those following the Introcast, here's the link to the latest episode, this time reviewing "Blue".  They're not particularly keen.  Not because of the kiss (which they rather liked), more because of Kryten's attitude to Kochanski and the plot inconsistencies.  (Boy, did they pick the wrong show.)          Their speculation about Kochanski's Lister has given me really scary thoughts about him getting memory implants in order to please her - how else would any version of Lister be that knowledgeable about and interested in opera? http://thereddwarfpodcast.podbean.com/2013/07/16/season-7-episode-5-blue/

I felt kind of bad for them. "Kryten better stop whinging real fast!" Oh, Heath, honey. No.

And not liking the underwear jokes as gender-cliched. Oh, Angela. Avoid Series 8. Can you imagine her reaction when Kryten is classed female because he lacks any genitalia at all? How about "Have A Fantastic Period!"

Angela's really good at guessing about the episodes, isn't she?

I was really looking forward to their take on this one. This is where Kochanski's writing starts to grate on me as well - I really liked her neuroticism in the previous two episodes, but here's where the woman jokes really take over. I'm not sure if I agree with them on their interpretation of Lister's memories. I find it perfectly plausible that Rimmer and Lister might have hung out sometimes without the cat. Cats come and go as they please, and the Cat seems to initially be the same way. Plus there are mentions of them spending time together, seemingly socially, even before the accident - isn't there something about planet leave on Miranda. I also didn't find Kochanski's theory quite as farfetched as they do - I don't think Rimmer made any kind of conscious sacrifice of his happiness for Lister, but I think it can be argued that keeping Lister sane did require sacrifices, whether he realized he was making them or not.

The memory implants idea is very creepy. I can see it happening, too.

Hello! This is Angela from the Red Dwarf Introcast. Just want to say that I appreciate all your kind words. I am celebrating having watched the entire series by looking up all the fanfiction and forums I can find, and I quite love all of it. I don't quite ship Rimmer/Lister... but that's most because I want Rimmer to myself. Cheers!

Angela again. Didn't QUITE say I wasn't into slash. :) Just not that particular pairing. I might need a bit more convincing.
