(no subject)

In light of all the recent kerfuffle around the incident at the BFI Sherlock screening (for those of you who may not be aware, Ben and Martin were forced to read out a JohnLock fanfic and the whole thing was cringeworthy for all involved) I've been doing some pondering.  If you could get the RD guys to re-enact a scene from one of your fics, what would it be?  I'm talking about a parallel universe scenario here where they'd be totally up for it and not at all embarrassed or uncomfortable and probably finding the whole thing delightfully humourous. Any thoughts?

Well, even in this parallel universe scenario, I can't imagine myself getting them to re-enact anything too personal. I think I'd go for the scene from my "Rocky Horror" fic where all four are watching the film for the first time and reacting to it. I'm quite proud of that scene.

Plus the fact that it includes Kryten and Cat would mean that Robert and Danny wouldn't have to sit there like lemons and could join in. ;)

Does somebody have it in for fanfic? Because seriously, if they're not into it that's about the worst thing that could possibly have ever been done.

I wish I had a fic to donate to this project. :) Looking for something by someone else is encouraging me to read some things I had not gotten around to, though.

Oh, that's not the only incident. Recently a reporter made a Downton actress read erotic fanfic in an interview. If these journalists can't do their jobs without such weak props, I'll be glad to take their interviews and their pay over for them. I guess as usual, what mostly women write and read is considered silly and naughty and foolish enough to belittle - by other women trying to prove how worldly and above it all they are.

I wouldn't mind seeing the guys have to enact the rescue scene from "Fools Fall" or the toy pirate sword fight from "Machine in the Ghost."

You made me read it... I just got to the toy pirate sword fight. ;) Very cute, and Rimmer gets to show off. A lot more three-dimentional action than they pull off in an actual reading, but if this is our fantasy of having them shoot one scene for us, why not. :)

Aww, thanks. I'd love to see Rimmer vault up into the rafters, but as good a shape as Chris is in, I just don't imagine it could happen!

The entire conversation in "Two Boys" is pretty tame -- and, really, Chris reading both parts would be more than enough. Caitlin Moran is not invited.

Ha, that's a good point - she didn't ask if we'd be OK with Mr. Million Voices doing the enacting all on his own. :-P

LOL, the more I thought about it, the more i thought "who's going to do the incidental narrative voice?" and it just makes sense that he would and, while we're at it, have him do both sets of dialogue, too.

Then I would totally listen to Chris read "The Rest of Life" for me (but it's not slash!). But only if he agreed to it ahead of time and it wasn't done to shame him or me. :-D

In Rimmer's Fiftieth Birthday, I'd want them to reenact Lister's reveal of the birthday cake, and their conversation in the cinema. It's a very short story, so I'm sure they could do the whole thing, really. Not that I think I could even stand to hear them reading aloud my words, mind you.

In all honesty it would be the prison food fight scene from the very first chapter of Floor 13.

And then I would take the rest of the story away and hide it.

I don't think I could stand to have them read anything I wrote. I would probably panic and pass out before I could decide on any thing; even if it wasn't mine. Alternate universe or not.

I really love 'Becoming Your Voice', where Rimmer has to speak for Lister. I can just picture Craig mouthing things, and raising his eyebrows at Rimmer. :P

I don't recognise that title. Is it on ff.net?

Oh, isn't really one of my fics, sorry.

It's OK, it doesn't have to be. We're just playing Fantasy Fic Reading. Thanks. :)
