I know you haven't read the book, so I'll just say that it's not quite as clear cut there that our Lister has no feelings at all for Rimmer - in fact there's a very interesting scene suggesting he's almost as preoccupied with him as he is with Kochanski. :)

This is chillingly good and fits in so well with "Last Human". The way you show how Evil!Lister's different upbringing and circumstances resulted in him using his natural charm for his own ends and coming to regard other people as just pawns for him to amuse himself with is of course in the book, but you flesh it out in ways Doug didn't, which is the purpose of fanfic of course. ;)

I was in two minds about the whole underage thing but since losing his virginity at 12 is canon anyway I decided to leave it in. There was a line in the book where Kryten is reading the psychiatric report on Evil Lister that says he'd struggled to form lasting relationships with either sex and that always stayed in my head. Our Lister is hardly uptight but other Lister really seems to struggle with inhibitions and impulse control and I thought that might well extend into his sexuality, that he'd be fairly blasé about who he slept with and why. When you add to that the line in D&A about lusting after meaningless sex, craving the physical gratification without the emotional baggage, it seemed to make sense that other Lister would learn to use - and maybe even enjoy - sex as a commodity rather than a connection.
