I really like the way you worked in bits of canon, but weaved your own story around them. I knew "Legion" was coming, but I never tire of fics that utilise it. :)

I was a little taken back by the ending. Not because there's anything wrong with it, but I find it hard to imagine Kryten letting Lister go without a huge hissy fit. But of course this is an AU where he didn't go all whiny in Series VII. ;)

To be fair, I'm also not sure that Lister would leave Kryten and Cat to fend for themselves. But I suppose if it's for the greater good...

Ahaha yeah I have to admit the ending was very much wish fulfillment for me — being Ace would be like a job that sends you on short business trips instead of a slowly-unfolding death sentence. So in my very idealised world, Cat and Kryten would only be alone for a few days at a time because Ace would always come back home. Based on what we know about Ace's ship, it seems to be capable of time travel anyway (???maybe).
