Personally I prefer Clare Grogan's Kochanski, but that's mainly because I like her accent, heh.

i prefer clare as well. She was at least funny, i cannot STAND chloe annet in series 7, why so whiney? She's not so annoying in series 8 though.

I didn't really mind Chloe Annet because when you think about it Rimmer was even whinier, although he was whiney in a funnier way...

Have you heard you singing in Altered Images? Rawr! :P

Whenever I write Kochanski, she's a bizzare amalgam of Clare and Chloe in my head. Like, she sorta looks like Chloe but she talkes like Clare. And, you know, actually has a backbone and doesn't whine like a little bitch.

It is not a BIG shocker if I say that I voted 'I can't stand Kochanski at all in either incarnation' in both cases, right? :P

I prefer Claire!Kochanski best ("S'Claire." - Craig), but that's mainly because a) I have a soft spot for 80s 'Dwarf, and b) I've always had a great big girlcrush on her.

I was hoping that Doug was going to write VII Kochanski as she was in The Last Human because she didn't seem whiney at all there. Don't know what happened between the book and TV sereis.
Chloe's lovely but she had a lot to live up to!

Don't know what happened between the book and TV series.

Chloe has said in interviews that she was very nervous about taking on the role, and that came through as the character being more uptight than written. In VIII, she had the audience, and has also said in interviews that she became much more relaxed and confident when she realized people were actually laughing at her jokes and enjoying her character.

Big-ass plot hole for BITR, for me - C.P.'s Kochanski should have been resurrected along with the rest of the crew. That could have been addressed with even just an offhand line, but it wasn't. There's a plotbunny - [livejournal.com profile] kahvi? :)

There were a lot of things I liked about Last Human over and above the Naylor-only TV show. I'm waffly about a movie - if it's like Last Human, I'd adore it. If it's more like VIII, I'm not so sure. He has a tendancy for his TV plots to get rushed, over-crammed, and fall apart - Epideme and Only The Good were the worst, I think, although Pete was up there (which is not to say that there weren't things I liked about Pete and OTG, of course, but viewed as a whole episode...).

Also, I think I've heard from just about everyone in RD at one time or another that Mr. Naylor tended to write a lot of the person into the character, so Chloe would have influenced the character of Kochanski in the shoe, while she would have been a more 'idealized' Kochanski in the book. Actually, IMO, the for boys still influenced their characters heavily in the book - maybe it's just because they had been working with Meister Naylor for so long.

"Four" boys and "show," dammit.

*entire story writes itself in her head*

Wha? Oh. Yes. Gah, I need to get that written down when I've finished. *looks at drafts* Well. Hehehe... ;)

That annoys me too. She's supposed to be important to Lister, so it seems strange that we never hear him talk about her or anything. He spends more time with Alternate!Kochanski than with His!Kochanski. Then again, RD isn't renowned for its continuity is it?

Personally I prefer Clare Grogan's Kochanski to Chloe Annett's because she seems more.. Nicer? Funnier? I'm not really sure, she just seems more lovable. Although we don't really see enough of her for me to like her anywhere near as much as the boys. With Chloe Annett's Kochanski she is a bit whiny and uptight in VII. But in VIII I found that I liked her more. The "have a fantastic period" thing and Archie were so funny.. I think in VIII you could tell Chloe was more confident.

As far as the love interest thing goes I prefer Lister with CG's Kochanski simply because a)I think Alternate!Kochanski should be paired with Holo!Lister and b)Alternate!Kochanski is his mum and I don't do incest.

I like version one Kotchanski. I just don't like Chloe's Kotchanski, but that may be because I don't really like the last two seasons. Oh yes, and AU Kotchanski is Lister's MUM. (But then again, Lister is his own dad.)

I also don't understand that whole little bit about AU Lister being gay and yet breaking up with AU Kotchanski.
