Act it out with your wig askew, step by step, as we line up. Mechanoid, cat-creature, grotty space-bum bunkmate. Shake hands, pat shoulders, grin as best you can.

Don't look into my eyes.

Don't linger at the warmth between us.

Don't shudder as the scent of me rams straight into your brain, evoking memories and feelings you didn't know were there.

Don't hesitate.

Don't grab my shoulder a little too hard as you turn away. We hate one another, remember?

Don't look back. Don't fecking hesitate. Brave lad. In return, I will stay, smiling contently, wishing you luck.

And nothing else.

Thank you for the inspiration. I do love writing drabbles, but they steal plots I want to use for longer fics, so I don't tend to write them as much for Red Dwarf. Um. This is my first one. :)

Beautiful that. Only as a result of all the fic I've read, I can't watch Stoke without crying. Like it wasn't bad before.

I'm fine with Stoke, for some reason. Maybe it's the Lister optimist in me. Oroboros though... That I can't handle. Dunno why. Maybe the finality of someone "replacing" Rimmer. :/
