I know it's ridiculously sad and fan-girly but I had a dream last night inspired by watching Pirates 2 at the cinema the other night for a Red Dwarf/Pirates crossover fic. See, I read this interview with Johnny Depp recently where he said that he'd always felt Jack Sparrow would be bisexual and my poor smut-addled brain just started whirring away. Then when I saw the film the plot bunnies started to procreate. Should I make them walk the plank or should I dive in?

Weeeeellll...I was kinda thinking of starting it out with a bit of Jack/Will, then adding a sprinkling of Jack/Lister and ending of course with a bit of what we're all here to see - Lister/Rimmer. I don't want to spoil the film for those who haven't seen it yet, but there's a plot in there about Jack's compass pointing to the thing you want most...Anyone seeing where I'm going with this? The nice thing about Dwarf is that you can always use timeholes and other weird space phenomena to bring crossover characters together!

Ah, obviously I am Sparrington OTP, and in a way they remind me of Lister/Rimmer - see what I mean? At least for the first movie, have not seen DMC yet, that will be next week.

I was thinking about it some more this morning in the shower, for some odd reason, and I was thinking of one way of going about it. It wouldn't necessarily have to be a literal worlds-colliding crossover; you could fit a Rimmerlike and a Listerlike (and a Catlike and a Krytenlike) character into the PoTC world. Folk serving on a cargo ship, perhaps, which crashes and leaves them stranded on an island for pirates to find. Or, the other way around - space pirates in Red Dwarf, and the PoTC folk as simulants or the like. Just a thought...
