How does a little personal pleasure make you less than good? And does the, er, State have peeping toms or such to keep on top of the things?

I assume the State is in possesion of a thought police. And lots and lots of spies, of course - people have friends, roommates, neighbors, servants and they all want those raffle prizes!
As for a little pleasure, denying it is the whole point. Denying people the realization of their most basic desires allowes you to control them. That's why religions do it. *nods sagely*
