This is a gapfiller for Stoke Me A Clipper. It's slightly sick and wrong. I'm starting to feel like I need to just give a warning for when my fics are not sick and wrong, though. It came out of a discussion with [livejournal.com profile] kahvi about this pairing.

No ... as I said on MSN, terribly sad but wonderfully written. Btw, I don't find the whole Ace/Arn thing sick ... when you've got a show like the Dwarf, well, anything can happen ...

There are a lot of things about Arn that draw it... part of it is that all kinds of crap do seem to just happen to him. A lot of the humor in RD was awfully dark humor. And then - well, he somehow manages to blow the few good things that do happen to him. The cherry on top is that the even rarer times he has done something actually good and noble, it either involved giving up something good he had just gotten his hands on (Holoship) or was wiped out by chance (Out Of Time). Ach, well. Rob Grant mentioned of the lead character in Colony that the only time Luck gives him something good is when Fate can whisk it out of his hands for a joke...

"Arn..." Ace gasped in his ear, "Can you use this? To carry you through?" - that's...! that's...! that's... lovely in a way I can't quite express.

I love how you work the lines from the show into the story - seamless!

Hmm... I've never seen 'plussed' as a word before - I take it that it means the opposite of nonplussed? To google!

And it's a wonderfully tragic ending, though the fact that Rimmer doesn't go and get himself killed immediately is good news, I guess!

That was a use of a fake positive of two negative words, a non and a dis... I just thought it was Dwarfish. ;)

Yes, living(sortof)!Rimmer is always good, because there's always the hope of redemption, usually brought by Kahvi. :D
