Shirtless Rimmer et al

I did discover this journal fairly recently, may not be up to all you have had here. Firstly I have to say I have greatly enjoyed all the fics recently and my OTP since starting to see this series has been Rimmer/Lister, just so obvious, isn't it? Anyway, I am enjoying my way through the DVDs and watching the documentary on Season 5 was great fun.
The first episodes have this certain outburst of Shirtless!Rimmer. In the documentary this is getting a lot of attention from the other actors, particularly Robert and Craig has some interesting comments. For those of you who haven't seen this, I have the clip here (you need the latest version of RealPlayer and it is almost 5 MB):
Shirtless!Rimmer comments

Now they obviously had a real good eye for what Chris looked like with his shirt off ::g:: It is the female that mentions the attractive model on the set, while the guys are enthusing of the sight of all those unexpected muscles. Anyway, I did not have any RPS intentions here, not my thing.
What I was wondering, has anyone written any fics about how Lister may have had a similar reaction? It is particularly interesting in combination with his insistence on blazing away to save Rimmer, and this is before he discovered the importance of Rimmers state of mind for their own survival. It is also interesting to ponder whether Lister knew of Rimmers reasons for leaving the holoship.

*mumbles* "Iwould'veshaggedhimIwould'veshaggedhimIwould'veshaggedhimIwould'veshaggedhimIwould'veshaggedhimIwould'veshaggedhimIwould'veshaggedhimIwould'veshaggedhimIwould'veshaggedhimIwould'veshaggedhimIwould'veshaggedhim">

*wakes up from daze* Whu? No! No, I'm firmly against RPS. I find it wrong. Very wrong. Wrong, wrong wrong... Ngh!

(The thing is, I do! But christ allmighty... They need to stop slashing themselves!!!)

Argh! Every time these get linked, I lose a chunk of time to... watching... Chris... Craig... naked... underwear...

I know this is a late post, but YouTube has removed these videos due to some violation. Can you believe that??? Damn them all...... (cries in the corner)

Seriously; you NEED the DVDs. I don't have them myself, but I'm getting them for the extras. Hell, even the commentaries would be worth it!

Well, I've heard from both Chole and Craig that Grant and Naylor mercilessly steal from the actors' personalities and quirks to make their characters. So again - Mmmmrphle!!!! The moment I heard that "I'd have shagged him," I just lost it.

Tangentially, Chris is utterly adorable here. I think the man only gets lovelier as he gets older.

You are in good company with [livejournal.com profile] lady_draco and I in that! Can't stand the bugger. It's turned up in a few fics.

Well, that is, the Aces we see before Arn becomes Ace. I really liked when Lister told Rimmer that he could be a different kind of Ace, and I try to reflect that in my fics. If being held back a year made Ace - well, I think being a soft-light hologram and being stuck with the Boys from the Dwarf made Arn into a better Ace than Ace, eventually.

Yes, indeedy! I agree - that's what I think Arn brings to the part.

O_o Sluts! How dare they tease us like that! They deserve some spanking! Ok, first Craig gonna spank Chris and then Chris Craig. XD

RPS!power!!! :D

I know I've read a fic about it some times ago but for the love of RD, no idea when and by whom ^^;

o_O

I love the commentary! In Future Echoes where the boyz are pondering where they would get two babies, someone (I think it's Craig) points out that they're all looking at Rimmer. More importantly, his crotch. XD

[identity profile] kahvi.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, and Craig says (unless I'm very much mistaking); "this is like the prelude to our Series VII kiss"!!?

[identity profile] beetle-breath.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, somethng like that. It's great!

*goes back to watch I with the commentary*

[identity profile] roadstergal.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, by some strange coincidence, that's where I was looking, too. :)

You've got to love a show where even the actors point out the slashy subtext XD

[identity profile] beetle-breath.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh trust me, I do. XD

This is my second favorite documentary clip ever.

My first being the Blue bit, of course, where Chris is going on about how Craig would taste and it being a good kiss, and Robert talking about how goopy they were afterwards...

I loved how the director mentioned that Chris was too eager to get his shirt off. This is a good thing, ma'am!

I haven't written anything specifically about what you ask, but I have mercilessly used bits of imagery of this documentary. I have also written a fic where Lister did know why Rimmer left the Enlightenment, but it was set between Vi and VII.

I know RPS is wrong. But shitehell, it's so, so, so, hard not to go there with these two!

Yep, indeedy!

And *faint* Yep, indeedy!
