Just as I had posted the other vid, a new bunny attacked :-) A bit more angsty bunny, hope you like the result.
Since I now have two RD vids, I have made a page for the fandom, and added pages for each of the vids with lyrics.

Very sweet. Very nice.

You need a better title font. The thick bright red letters would work on a smaller video, but you've got large, high-quality clips here. Do something more subtle.

I liked the use of transitions; the fade-takes worked well and flowed nicely. I felt like the camouflage-transition in the beginning worked, but thinking back on it, it feels gimmicky; it didn't fit in with the rest of the vid. (But if you did more transitions like that throughout the vid, it would feel gimmicky.)

Good song choice, good clip choice with the Ace clips, and I'm glad you didn't overdo it with the kiss.

Oh no, I don't mind at all, I really wish more people would take that to heart as you do. It is almost depressing sometimes - I counted 120 downloads for one vid, and not one of them bothered to tell me what they actually thought of the vid...
It is specially gratifying that people take time for constructive criticism. I do suspect it is a little as with fics, that people hesitate to criticize, and I have to say, from what I have seen in fandoms, with good reason. I have seen again and again fandom writers claiming that crit is good and then go off in a huff and never want to write again, if people actually come with some. One needs to establish that one actually can handle such things graciously, before people will start to do it.
I am glad you liked it, and again thanks for telling me what you thought was not so good. I rarely change the vid once it is posted, but it is very important to know which of the things I try that works for people and which doesn't.
He, it is so easy to overdo the kiss, isn't it? I resisted the temptation :-)
The beginning and end was done the same on purpose, to create the idea that this is someone thinking. Possibly way to subtle... It is clearly the type of transition I would not use inside the vid, as it would take too much attention from the actual clips. Unless some very specific effect was required, of course.

Eh, this is the first time I've bothered - usually I'm too busy/lazy ^_^; I'll start doing it more now, though. You're encouraging.

Set up some kind of message board on your site, or even a simple comment box - SiteGadgets or SparkLit should have something like that. It's a big threshhold to cross to actually email somebody, but leaving a typed note that doesn't require registering for anything is much less intimidating.

Also, have you tried putting your vids on YouTube? Good exposure, easy comment structure, and people can add your vids to their favorites, so the views-to-favorites ratio gives you some idea of what people think of a given video.

(Of course, your company includes a cat flushing a toilet, but I actually found that amusing, so it's all good.)

"Someone thinking"? That's actually interesting, but definitely too subtle. I didn't catch it at all.

YouTube - you don't want me start ranting on that ;-) I actually think I have made one comment on that on this forum already.
Sufficient to say, I think fanvids on YouTube are a very bad idea and may have serious repercussions for all vidders who use Internet.
And there is no way I am going to distribute my vids with such bad resolution anyway. It is bad enough that I can not have everyone see them in the quality I make them in. A little fixed idea of mine, this ::G::

I like this one, though it made me sad. I think the editing flows very nicely with the song and the general (sad!) feel of the vid - much slower then the other one. As for the effects I quite liked them. They would have gotten tiresome if you used them throughout, but like that it was interesting. I did get the idea that it was someone thinking, coupled with the lyrics it comes across.

It was a sad, angsty bunny, so if the vid made you sad, the bunny is going to be very happy ::G::
I thought maybe some people would find it a bit too angsty for a comedy show, but people do write plenty of angsty fics, so why not an angsty vid?
I am glad you liked the flow of it, I worked a lot of that. The difficult thing is that it needs to be slow, but not too slow, then it stops instead of flows.

I actually think angst fics (or other fan things like vids) work better with comedy show, because when the show is already a drama and you go and put more angst into it, it often ends up beeing whiny. With comedy it balances out nicely.

Yes, I agree. And really RD fandom uses a lot of time to look at the more serious part of the situation these guys are in, which I think is because you get so invested in the characters. If it is just funny, you will laugh and never consider that there is a serious aspect to it as well. But some RD stories takes it a bit far, it should take care of the humour of these characters as well.

Aw, sweet! I like how the flow of the vid matches the flow of the song. I especially like the "lose you" bits. Very well-executed.

To give concrit - I do agree that the red font layered over is a little jarring, as is the burnt-paper transition. The fades are great. The layered-lightbee-over-observation-tower feels a little odd to me, but that may very well be just my personal taste.

Interesting how people react differently. I usually make it short and big, to make sure people can read it. But I can see that the text may be a bit dominating.
I thought that layering worked pretty well, since they are on a mostly black background and therefore it is just them and the universe with the "coffins" gathering, but I guess I am also thinking of the fact that they are talking about loss and death in the tower.

Ja, that's very true. Loss of Rimmer's dad, loss of Rimmer - and Rimmer's comment that, although he knows his dad was dead, it was different getting the news. I think that's the way Lister must feel about sending Rimmer off...

Yes, I was trying to focus on what Lister would be thinking of when he got over all the nastiness Kryten fed him with.
I would think he mostly remembered newer things, but some glimpses on how things were when it was basically just the two of them. And of course, he may think about how it would be to actually be told that Rimmer was dead, like Rimmer was told his father was dead.
Moments when they were close, when Rimmer was just being very Rimmer, when Rimmer actually did something other worth remembering, Rimmers confusion and denial over the existense of Ace, and of course Rimmer naked ::eg::

Ja, and maybe thinking a little more about why Ace bothered Rimmer so much. I mean, he didn't get truly snippy until Ace and Lister got chummy. :p I bet he'd do some serious thinking when he met resurrected!Rimmer, too. Ach.

There is one thing I really thought was interesting; the different versions of Ace Rimmer. First you have the parallel dimension first Ace Rimmer, then you have our Rimmer without his hangups, then you have the new parallel dimension Rimmer and finally our Rimmer trying to be Ace with all his hangups.
One thing that struck me was that the second variation was much more ruthless. Without his hang-ups, he still had the single-mindedness of purpose, and a certain lack of respect for other peoples life. Sacrificing the Cat to save Lister was not even worth considering (you could say he asked the Cat if he was willing to sacrifices himself, but Cat was clearly not capable of understanding or consenting right then). It was a bit like Rimmer with the waxdroid, only when being Ace even Lister seems to think everything he did was fine. Lister is not willing to accept the sacrifice, but he is not criticising Rimmer who after all might have survived while the Cat would certainly be dead.
That is an interesting thing also with the waxdroids, they did follow Rimmer and with quite a lot of enthusiasm. So the charisma of Ace is there, just given a more negative use.

Ja, I've speculated on the different versions of Ace. I think that the experiences Rimmer had as a hologram made him a better Ace than Ace, as Lister mentioned in SMAC. First-Ace was pretty stuck-up and terribly rude to himself, really. But ja, Emohawk-Ace had little consideration for Cat's life, and I think that's because he hadn't had the experiences of Rimmerworld and Out Of Time. I've said often that I think those two episodes changed him, and I really think they did so much more to make him a halfway decent man than anything else he went through.

Er, that was a little quick, as I'm heading out. I might have to expand on it later.

You dont have to be a vidder to tell a vidder what you think worked or not worked. It is after all a mostly non-vidder audience we cater to.
But I am of course happy for each one who takes the time to tell me what they think, and I am glad you liked it!
