The con-crit thing depends on what kind of crit. General stuff like theme, characterization, etc. would be fine here, but more specific stuff like grammar, sentence structure, etc. I find it easier to have a hard-copy that I can refer to, rather then copying and pasting from livejournal.

I'm really lazy that way. I like having a record of crits so I can review them and e-mail is the easy way to do that.

I just read this right through from the first chapter and I must tell you I loved it. I think Rimmer is a very complicated character - too complicated to explore properly in the series itself - so it's wonderful to see someone really do him justice. Integrating his pre-hologram and post-Ace personas was inspired. And you've given us a real plot too! I'm dying to know more about the war and about what's up with Cassandra. Also, I'm glad you took so much trouble over Kochanski's characterisation. I find the way you've written her very believable. And the het sex is hot!

I'm new to watching this comm, but I'll be jumping all over your future updates.

If you're new to the community I suggest browsing back. There is some really great stuff posted, particularly by Roadstergal and Kahvi. I've also got a few drawings posted illustrating the story I'm writing. (Although they are really just concept sketches.)

I agree about Rimmer being very complicated. Insanely complicated, actually. I mean the same guy who acts all casual and confident in "Thanks for the Memory" after having Lise implanted into his memory and who is much more relaxed and open when he's drunk, is the same guy who is such an utter neurotic smegpot. Then you add in the suggestion that he can become _Ace_ somehow... yikes!

I find him the most interesting character in Red Dwarf. Of course I like Lister and Kochanski as well. Although I think they have a lot less competing impulses they have to reconcile. I'm glad you're enjoying my characterization of Kochanski. I think she's an underserved character, really, and I figure she has a total crush on Rimmer.

Glad you like the het-sex. I always worry adding het to slash as I know it can get a bit boring for slash fans. (At least it has for me in other people's work.)

Then you add in the suggestion that he can become _Ace_ somehow... Oh yes, the very notion Rimmer has it in him to be Ace is kind of amazing. Once we learn that it completely opens up the character. I remember thinking so when I first saw Dimension Jump - which was years before Stoke Me A Clipper got made. Your story is a pretty dark one so far, especially in its treatment of Rimmer, but I think it's justified so I like that about it. And yes, I also agree Kochanski is under-served. I loved that you took her seriously and wrote her properly into the plot.

I have been browsing back, which has been fascinating. I must start fbing a bit more now I'm here.
