Authors notes: Commissioned by and written for the eternally-lovely laurenmitchell who asked What if Rimmer as Ace watched the episode 'Blue'? Wouldn't it inspire him to try and find Lister and the others? and consequently bullied asked me to write it for her ^__^. Therefore, this fic acts as an AU alternative to 'I Bruise Easily' from my 'Ace Chronicles' series (shut up, I can do that)

Part one of two or three (this supposed 'oneshot' was growing rather longer than intended so I thought it best to divide it up!!)

Disclaimer: I don't own Red Dwarf (although it would be amazing if I did...) Fic title comes from Craig Charles' poetry book 'No Other Blue'. I would have quoted some lines from the poem itself but it's a little too sickly for me ^__^
