Hi, I've made a start on the tagging, I'm starting right for the bottom, It's kinda fun.

Quick question, Is there any interest in having Pre-slash, First-time and Established tags?

My .02, since you asked and I assume that means you really would like opinions on the subject, is that people actively seek out first-time fics, but people usually don't go scrounging up established or pre-slash fics. Since the tags are really just there so people can identify what they want to read, I think just first-time would be fine. Of course, I'll defer to you, as you're putting in all the effort, and I sort of feel the ultimate decision should lie with you or our delicious mod. ;)

Btw, you rawk hardcore for taking on this task.

I've seen people ask for established in this com once or twice I think. I think if you want to do that that's great, it just seems like a lot of work for you!

XD I totally understand! I think tags would be an improvement over the crazy cross reference system I keep in my LJ favorites XD Thanks :3

I decided to start at the first post and read forward, see what it was like back then. Man, it was weird! The first of us coming over from the mailing list. Everyone except [livejournal.com profile] tronella going by a different username.

Erm... how will you determine those though? All right; first times are pretty self-explanatory. Eh. I don't care for those particular labels myself, but I won't hit people with satsumas if I see fics (even my own) tagged that way.

EDIT: Though, if I had a choice, I'd rather not see those tags used.

Very yes, I think that's a fantastic idea.

I was doing the same thing, reading through the entire archives, starting this summer when I found the comm (I'm up to Jan 2007 now, whoo hoo!), and I saved a bunch of posts with the tag "backwards spoilers" or "8 spoilers" (since I'd missed some eps from series 8 and hadn't got to that dvd yet). My memories are getting crowded though, and your tagging should make things so much easier! Yay for you!

I'm not sure. I don't think over-labelling is a good idea, it may spoil the story to some extent. Or give the reader pre-concieved ideas about it.

I know all about the need to neatly categorise things, but I'm not sure it fits with pieces of writing.

Having said that, I'm now trying to think of what would be helpful to me if I was looking for a specific story that I'd read and wanted to find again (this happens to me pretty often). I think author tags would be useful in that situation.

First of all, did I thank you for doing this awesome job yet? Thank you for doing this awesome job! It is, as mentioned, awesome. As are you.

Yes, I guess I kinda am. As [livejournal.com profile] smaych below, I'm not a fan of over-labeling. Pairing and rating and all that stuff is good, but I would prefer not being tagged beyond that. If you've already tagged any of my stories as such, I'm not asking you to un-tag them, however! I don't want to give you extra work. And sorry for being a pain.

OK, so I've gone through some of the tags, and I'm... well, I don't want to seem unappreciative, but I would really rather not have my fics tagged with stuff like 'pov' and 'angst/fluff'. In short, and without going into literary wank mode (that's the Lit major in me), I feel these labels are limiting, and I don't identify with them. This brings up a question though; how many tags are there? Could other authors possibly feel the same way?

I really, really don't want to seem unappreciative; it's just that my time in fandom (and reading [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants) has taught me that categories can be tricky...

EDIT - OK, looked through tags. It's just angst/fluff and POV I personally have a problem with. Man, I sound like such a whiner. Sorry about that.
