Title: Like Everything Else
Summary: In which Lister just can’t get comfortable.
Rating: PG

So I was looking at all my RD stuff and thinking things looked a little empty on the Lister/Rimmer front. Behold, one and all! It’s L/R slash! Short, true, but still, I haven’t forgotten that hologram!

Rimmer glances across the room as Lister tosses and turns in his bunk. He’s been doing it for so long now that Rimmer knows his movements to a tee: he rolls over, stays there for a moment, then grunts and struggles to get comfortable again. He doesn’t look at his hologrammatic bunkmate once, and Rimmer rolls his eyes as he stares at the ceiling, listening absent-mindedly to the human’s moans, which gradually grow louder and louder until Lister finally announces: "Oh, I hate this."

“I’m perfectly comfortable,” Rimmer chirps, taking a guilty, savage pleasure in rubbing the delux advantages of his new hard-light bee in; Legion certainly knew what he was doing.

Lister scowls over at him. “Shut up.”

Rimmer ignores the jibe, and half-heartedly decides not to reply, at the same time taking note of the fact that Lister has become still. The hologram crosses his new solid hands across his equally solid chest and waits. One minute gives way to a second minute, and Rimmer starts to think that maybe, just maybe, all will remain quiet tonight, when he finally hears Lister groan again and then his bunkmate shuffles out of bed. Rimmer doesn’t react as he stumbles across the room, climbs onto the bed next to him and simply, because that’s what it feels like, cuddles into Rimmer. The hologram allows both of them a moment to get their bearings before speaking his mind.

“Well, like smoking, drinking, curry and in general being a complete and total goit – just like everything else, you’ve managed to resist another night of this immeasurably.” He smirks at the ceiling as Lister responds, eyes already closed.

“Shut up, Rimmer.”
