It may be complete and utter shash but Popbitch reckon Craig Charles might in the running for Strictly Come Dancing this year.  I would be very surprised if this was true but I choose to believe it is.  Just because it would make me happy :-)

...And the fact that he is, by his own admission, not much of a dancer and would probably have absolutely no truck with being forced into sequinned trousers. But a girl can dream (although not about the sequinned trousers).

A primetime Saturday evening show which teams celebs with professional dancers to compete for several weeks in ballroom dancing techniques. I think your equivalent is "Dancing With The Stars"?

I imagine Craig's reaction would be similar to his performance in "Tongue Tied", where he looks totally ill at ease. Danny would be ideal if he wasn't already a professional dancer.

I'm sure Chris would make a few hearts flutter. ;)

Well, he did participate in The Games in 2005, so I guess it's not completely out of the question if he joined Strictly. Judging from his whinging in "Tongue Tied", I don't take Craig as much of a dancer. Plus it does seem like he'd have too many other commitments, between Corrie, his DJ'ing and radio show. Still--if the rumor turns out to be true, I know I'll be watching! ;D

That was fine in "Tongue Tied" as it's meant to be funny, but you're right. :)

It's just not his type of music - I'm sure he'd make more of an effort for funk, soul, dance etc. ;)

Hmm, my first thought was how much he complains about doing the dance for Tongue Tied (in the cast commentary), but as you say, not his type of music - he does say he thought the music and choreography for it would be funkier. So maybe he would be up for Strictly after all - it does have a range of music types and dancing styles. Wow, might actually watch it if he does sign up!

To be fair he does have a competitive streak (Universe Challenge anyone?). If it caught his interest and he decided he wanted to do it properly I think he'd probably put in quite a lot of effort and that would be interesting to watch...

One imagines if they could recruit Chris as a competitor, Craig might definitely practice and get himself raring to beat his old nemesis, LOL.

From what I gather, Corrie is a 10 hour day, 6 days a week gig sometimes. And they seemed slightly reluctant to have him do Red Dwarf for too long.

Plus, 6 Music and DJ'ing and he now owns a nightclub in Manchester.

...he needs a cloning machine and then he can do ALL the reality TV and I'd be very happy.

Ooh, that's a great idea. He does get competitive! What we really need is a 'Strictly Come Red Dwarf', where Chris, Craig and Bobby compete and Danny judges. I would seriously watch that.
