This is a bit of a Season VIII followup for the Lone/Aftermath/Tenacity/Turning arc. It started off as a fic Linds asked for, but all I can do is set them up, and they often go in a different direction than I planned; this one sure did.

It's fun to see your take on VII. I think you've got Lister down quite well; there's a bit of aimlessness about him, just like in the series. Eagerly awaiting Part 2!

I found the aimlessness in VIII very interesting. It almost seemed like there was some motivation, some joi de vivre, that was missing with Rimmer gone. Well, his Rimmer. It gets a little interesting to try to pull apart the actors and the characters in VIII, interaction-wise, but I feel like Lister could love 'this' Rimmer - and wants to - but it's the same old Rimmer as he started off being, with the same old neuroses, and I don't think Rimmer is capable of love at this point. I think he warms to Lister when Lister treats him differently than how he treated him back-when, but needs to pass through a few trials by fire, as 'Lister's' Rimmer did.

Heh. Anyhoo. I'm actually almost done with II. I thought it would take longer, which is why I posted I seperately, but it's writing itself.

Aww, how can you not love Lister? Especially VII/VIII Lister!

I think I caught a fic-specific strain from Linds last night, because the TR is still just slogging along. This one is exploring a theme that's been running through my mind and that I never set down to the page before, though, which might be why it's moving better than my other fics.

God, the look on his face after he's kissed Rimmer! Er, or whoever's kissing whoever in that scene. Just one of the most beautiful expressions I've seen on the human face.
