ARGH! Dan and Brett - they are waaaaaaaay too hot together :) I lvoed it very very very muchly. Poor Rimmer, got his heart rip out twice in one day. I'm strating to have a feelingt hat The Universe is not very fond on him... :P

"Arnold schmucko Rimmer? Tosspot by royal appointment?" Yeah, he can't catch a break. :( Of course, it is partly his doing, and isn't that always the way it goes? He thought his sexual attraction was Lister's hack, and if he hadn't been in denial, they could have said hellwit AR and gotten it on elsewhere. Bleh.

I think I've got a new favorite story of yours. Simply wonderful. Every fannish positive feedback clichè fails me, but nevertheless; you are love, I do offer marriage, and I would bear your children. (And I would gust out with hyperbole - hey, it's me!) :D

The language in this is really good, which I forgot to mention (with the possible exception of a dropped 'h' that I'm not sure is supposed to be there, but it's too subtle for a non-native speaker to be sure about, methinks); especially the seamless mix of scouse and that delicious cowboy drawl. It's like some sort of delicious mixed-drink.

(I just got III yesterday, and I'm all caught up in the language geekery that is Bodyswap. ;))

Brett laughed. "I haven't seen him in years. Good one in a fight, but terrible with the cards and the ladies. We parted ways." Brett frowned. "State he's in, innit?"

Eee heee hee. Brett/Dan rocks my socks. And that description of Dan/Rimmer is accurate. ;)

Dan gave her a sad look, then turned to Brett. His unsteady stare took the man in, and recognition filtered very slowly into him. "I... know you..."

Of course you do. Give the man a hug.

"Hell," he grunted, as Dan started to breathe in a quiet, whiffly snore, "trouble just follows you like a lost puppy, doesn't it?"

This entire scene was adorable. All of it.

I love the exasperated reactions to Lister's favorite use of AR, I love the way Brett and Dan are characterized and their relations to Lister and Rimmer, and I love Brett/Dan. ::drools::

The only thing that bothered me was that their kiss seemed to come out of nowhere--I'd have liked to see a little more foreshadowing and/or surprise over their own reactions.

I'm eagerly waiting for a sequel. Great job! (Also, this has inspired me to work on expanding my drabble. It still refuses to include the sexing up of Dangerous Dan, unfortunately...)

Thankee! And yes, I agree - when I read it with a rested mind, it did seem too abrupt. Lister just thought it felt dandy, but I think I need to switch the POV over to Rimmer for the last bit; it'll lose Lister's attempt to catch him, but it'll gain his thoughts.

I don't know if anyone else noticed the changes, but I like them. The added Rimmer POV adds depth to the ending.

I also like the little mention of Lister's attempts to break down the door.
