This is different, in intent and execution, from the other vids I've done, so crit on whether it worked and/or how it can be tweaked would be appreciated.
Yep, it was inspired by the Ace discussions.
Edit - vid has been redone.

Date: 2006-08-24 07:06 am (UTC)I loved the VIII bits in there, Lister with Rimmer, but not his Rimmer - I think it worked very well. Beautiful song. It gave the whole thing a more mellow pace, which I guess you were going for. Nice flow.
One little thing - in the contest of the vid (as I understood it) the clips of the original Ace don't really fit, especially the ones of him and Lister.
Oh and - more angst?!

Date: 2006-08-24 04:06 pm (UTC)Hmm, ja. I was trying to play with the idea that Lister was looking for the Ace inside of Rimmer, which partly prompted the pushing-out, but that might be too torturous for a vid to communicate. I'll futz more tonight.

I partially agree with

Date: 2006-08-24 06:07 pm (UTC)Hmm, yes, I should work on that. Maybe make it just Liser/holoRimmer/VIII Rimmer. For the "precious few/who've left their pride on the other side..." I was stuck between Bongo making his offer and Nirvanah. The latter would be more apropos to Lister/holoRimmer; I might change that around.
Some of the loveliest songs I've come across are covers other people did of Lenoard Cohen songs. ;) We've discussed Hallelujah here in the past. Then this song; there's also a Trisha Yearwood version, which is just too lovely - but it's countryish in sound, and has a female singer with an American accent, of course; I figured the male Brit would be better for this vid. And there's also Tori Amos's cover of Famous Blue Raincoat; it just breaks my heart to listen to it. But that one speaks more to the evil than to R/L, in my opnion.

Date: 2006-08-24 08:32 pm (UTC)I was thinking about Come Home To You, but it just doesn't have the right tone for RD. The last verse kills me, though.
There's a meanness inside, and it shivers my bones
That's the thing about mercy, I guess.
There's no man so wicked he cannot come home
Nor so good he passes each test.
As the fires of memories burn me
The grace of your love returns me
To this most traveled of highways
Where I'd do anything just to come home to you.
I adore John Hiatt. *points to icon*
