I had a mental image, and did not know what to do with it - until a conversation in [livejournal.com profile] kahvi's journal.

Gapfiller for Nanarchy. Spoilers up to there.

"Yer my Rimmer, aren't you?"

Crit is always good. Written for [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100. Little Damn Table.

Simply Gorgeous

I loved this peice. Laughed out loud at "spanky".

BTW, just a minor criticism, and I hope this is the place to put it. I think the following two paragraphs could be worked into one. The repetition of the visuals threw me out of the story for a moment. I've _indicated_ the words that were particularly distracting.

"The nanobots worked faster than he thought was physically possible - but they were hyper-advanced technology, weren't they? As he watched, the flashing red lights faded to nothing in a broad strip that swept around the ring, leaving in its wake a smaller, but still mind-bendingly vast, _rectangular brassy structure_. As it was made of the same material as the coffins, it reflected the light of the distant red sun in a ruddy yellow glow along one side, disappearing into blackness in the shadow of the planet.

It could not have been much more than an hour before the pulsing red ring was gone. And in its place was a _boxy structure_, curved into a ring around the planet; a hall, full of... Lister did not let himself think. He'd jinx it, he was sure. Instead, he rushed to the exit hatch, wondering how the smeg he would get his suit on with one smegging arm."

Heaven, I'm in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
I've got several million Rimmer's cheek to cheek!

Been looking forward to this one - glad to see it! :)

As usual, much love. I would have liked some more details, and perhaps a slower build-up (look, I'm trying to concrit; it's hard!), but then again I've already written a version of this scenario in my mind, and I'm probably comparing it to that. And, of course, it is a dream, which would impact the telling of it. (See? Hard.)

I love the detail of his arm not being fixed before he did this. It's a lovely touch.

Can I just say that I really like the word "miasma"?

This one had very green eyes and a hard-planed, unscarred face.
I'd get slightly distracted in this room, I think.

OMGWTF "Spanky". Mmffph...

He grabbed two that were snogging, pulled them apart, then pushed them back together. Not his Rimmer, either of them.
This was a surprise??

Rimmer's head dropped, and Lister pressed his lips to the hologram's, running his tongue along the man's lips.
This is where I started getting suspicious. It's never that easy!

"Lucky bastard," one muttered. "Which one?"
*giggle*

Heee - turtleneck!

Nicely done, ma'am!

The frantic goes well with Lister's mood; it works much better while he's running around, methinks. I just love that image... Running around, looking for his Rimmer. That was another nice touch, just catching his eye, and knowing.

Oh, and also; since he didn't get to actually go through with the plan at any point, I'd wager he'd try it again post VIII, once they escaped. I mean, seeing (and then losing) ressurected!Rimmer would have been enough of an encouragement, no?

I really really like this idea- why couldn't it have been in RD?! I might have enjoyed series 8 more! Great writing, always a joy to read!

The thing with the arm- awww. Very Lister, eh?*g*

"Lucky bastard," one muttered. "Which one?" asked another
Had to laugh at that.. so Ace.*g* Good job!

He was, yeah.*g* You know, I always wonder what would happen if Ace stayed there with them, didn't leave. Rimmer would go mental, that's for sure:-) But it would make for an interesting Ace-Lister and slowly a Rimmer/Lister study. Lol! (Plot bunny, by any chance?*would love to read*)

Has a proper dream/nightmare feel doesn't it - running around looking for someone important in a room full of look-a-likes ::shiver::
And Lister tries desparately to find a way to make things right - your doings Listy, you have to live with it...

I love your descriptions of all the different Aces - mostly the same, but just different enough.

It's a very lister thing to do, bring back all the Aces to find his own. Kinda fits in with the whole Cloister/God thing.

Hellooo, that was interesting :D

Quite a nice mental image, too :D A room full of Rimmers and Lister trying to find his Rimmer. Oh Listy, you big sap.

Billions of Rimmers... Imagine fangirls let loose in there.... I digress.

I'm glad you wrote this. Poor Listy, his subconcious is playing with him.

It was a sight that would make the most hard-core lesbian on Mimas base wet.

Oh dear. A black-hole for Listers and fangirls...

Lovely job, as always. ;)
