kahvi for her and
roadstergal's amazing fic Breaking the Chain. I'm very happy that she asked me to draw fanart because I wanted to draw something based on their fics anyway, but couldn't decide between all the fics. So it's nice when someone makes the decisions for you :)

Rimmer stopped and almost dropped the clothes. He juggled them at the sight of Lister's back muscles flexing, his buttocks jiggling, his rasta plaits slithering down his back to point to said buttocks, as if they were some perverted road sign. "I... er..."

Date: 2006-10-25 07:25 am (UTC)I love Rimmer's expression. It's... I really don't want to say 'perfect', because I know it's a really lazy way of saying all those other awesome specific positive things that I spent a few years in school learning to notice. On the other hand, my brain is gunk. So yes, it's perfect. And the backgrounds, but by now that pretty much goes without saying.

Date: 2006-10-25 08:54 am (UTC)Also, thank you :) I really take pride in actually drawing backgrounds, because, before this year, I didn't draw backgrounds almost at all. So I still need a lot of practise but at least I'm trying. Sometimes the colours manage to make me very frustrated. Just what colour are those walls anyway? Green-yellow-blue-grey-white-whatever.
Also also: heeee icon :D

Otherwise, lovely coloring, as usual. You get Lister's coloring right! And dark brown hair, thank you! :D And I see you put those background caps to good use. The background is fantastic. Best of all though, is Rimmer. The expression... That is the exact expression I saw when we wrote this. I also love the pose you gave him - it's like he's moving on the page. Well. The screen. You know.
Happy, yes. You know, it's so odd. There's really nothing like the feeling of having something you've created move into another medium, or be worked on further by someone else. Collab-fics have something of that within them from the start, but seeing something like this... It's pretty awesome. So thank you so much for making the sory alive in a different way!

Date: 2006-10-25 01:44 pm (UTC)Yeah, I've noticed that some things look weird (and I think I'm noticing even more oddities than you two because every time I've drawn something, I go "aaaagh that's not right and nothing's right"). What's more annoying that I noticed most of the weird stuff only after the pic was pretty much finished, so there wasn't much room for editing :/ Ah well. Perhaps I'm learning as I go on and, in 50 years, will produce works to rival with Rembrandt or Mucha :P
And dark brown hair, thank you!
Er, you're welcome :) ...what kind of coloring jobs on Lister's hair have you seen? It's always been brown to me. Unless some people have given him black hair. Which just isn't right. Not to meaning to insult other artists, but his hair just is dark brown.

I know, it's incredible! I think I felt pretty much the similar way when I was reading "Remedy". I was all "OMGSQUEE". For the lack of a better word :) It makes you feel so happy and proud of your work when you realize someone likes it so much that they are willing to create something, anything based on it. You requested me to draw it, but I wanted to draw something based on your writing anyway. It's so inspiring :D
Or something. Thank you for your lovely comment :)

Date: 2006-10-26 07:18 pm (UTC)I completely agree with the above. The background is very well done, and that's a fantastic Rimmerspression. Nice positioning, lovely shading all throughout.
I do agree that Lister's expression is a little odd, but that's pretty rich coming from someone who can't even start to draw. ;) (Rimmer's saying that he didn't have the H in BTC, but I told him that's not what we're looking at, and he knows it.)
