That's really interesting; I saw Lister as more fretting and Rimmer as more assured when I read that scene... Interesting how we interpret literature differently. :)
I don't think we interpreted it that differently. I just think that Lister has the tendancy to smile off his nervousness and try to translate it into chumminess. He's feeling guilty, after all, and wants to assauge his guilt by being friendly to Rimmer.
Right, but I actually saw their facial expressions as being different. (I have a very visual-imagery based imagination, which is odd, considering my complete and utter disregard for details.) Which is not to say I disagree with you or think the story is OOC - Far from it! I'm just finding the different interesting.
