Date: 2006-11-27 10:51 am (UTC)N'awww, guys, you really made my day with this. I've been stressing out all day over problems with the real estate agent, and this was a lovely ending to come home to and to read and enjoy.
Much kudos to you both.

Date: 2006-11-27 01:59 pm (UTC)Secondly: oh Rimmer, you lovable n00b.
Because he was on a roll, Lister started to give a very, very urgent nod before Rimmer's words caught up with him.
Ahhaha :D
In her mind, thousands of gittish Rimmer-alternates whooped in triumphant glee at the fact that she could not take her eyes off him.
Oh, I love this bit.
...I won't be able to look at a surgical mask anymore without becoming thoroughly amused. Damn you.
The way, for that matter, he had kept looking at the living Arnold in prison when he thought no one saw, that lost look in his eyes...
Exactly what I've always been thinking! It's so obvious once you start paying attention to it (and before, even).
On a side note, now I realize why Kryten annoys me so often. He's just like my grandma, with all his mother hen qualities and such! Omg.
Rimmer yelped and stepped back quickly. "I didn't notice..."
I probably should be annoyed at the brief disturbance but I can't help being amused at my sweet, sweet space boys :) This must be love.
(I shall, in my mind, start calling this whole fic The Fellatio Fic :D ...oh yes. And what a fellatio it is. Um. I might need a moment to collect my sanity)
After all, this would not be about Lister and Rimmer shagging until the end of eternity.
I beg to differ.
Utterly lovely, and call me boring but I think I really like this chapter best :) It's so safe and familiar compared to the alternate reality and, well, Rimsy and Listy are really quite adorable. Also, hot. Very good job, both of you <3

And I will not call you boring.
Thanks for the feedback! :)

Fellatio!! Hehehe... Yep. *mind drifts*
I beg to differ too; in fact I remember thinking just that when I read it. But it's Rimmer, what can you do? ;)
Thank you so much for your lovely comments - I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

Date: 2006-11-27 07:28 pm (UTC)I love how the new memories settle in with the boys, very interesting idea. And Kryten... How amusing his attempts to safeguard Lister's modesty, and how the disturbing the hints of Jake's er... *shudder*
She briefly and irrationally wondered if there was any way to make more copies
Oh happy thought! A Rimmer for all, I say!
Kochanski's perfume - the one she usually wore for emergencies
A small thing, yes, but a perfume for emergencies? Brilliant!
He had just finished rescuing a small royal family from evil hamster-GELFs one dimension and liberating five worlds from the domination of sentient automobiles in another
The killer cars! And the evil hamster-GELFs deserve their own fic. Definitly.
I like how the ending is still uncertain, but sweet. And wondeful Cat, as always.

Date: 2006-11-27 08:34 pm (UTC)Oh dear. I just had a mental image of the Corridor Of Aces. It's somewhere between highly appealing and highly frightening. Like Kat's suggestion of Chris, Rimmer, Brittas, Hillary, and Ace locked in a room.
Oh, the perfume is a Kat-ism. Love, eh?
Thank ye for the feedback!

Date: 2006-11-27 10:40 pm (UTC)Damn, I can't stop thinking about it now! I think the first thing that will happen though is the boys will join forces and try to kill Brittas. Although Ace will probably try to defend him - he's that sort of chap. Who knows though, even superheroes have their limits. Gah! That's clearly too much consideration for the idea, I'll end up dreaming about it tonight. I have very vivid dreams.
Oh and you realize you now have to come up with a joke to end that sentence, doen't you?

Date: 2007-02-25 07:52 am (UTC)He picked Brittas. He said Brittas would clean the camper for him and not take his beer, while Rimmer would probably go spare and try to murder him after two days.

Date: 2006-11-27 10:40 pm (UTC)Glad you like the perfume; it's lovely when the little things get noticed. It just struck me as something she'd be likely to have. She and Cat are a match made in heaven, aren't they? A very trendy, color co-ordinated heaven.
That's a

I second the love for the Kochanski-attracted-to-Rimmer stream of thought. :)
I really enjoyed writing my Kochanski/Rimmer bits, nice to get a bit of a reminder of why I like them together so much.

Thank you!

Date: 2006-11-28 08:23 pm (UTC)I still don't get why Kryten sends Ace to get Rimmer - is it because he knows the water in the shower is dangerous?
Interesting that Sebastian really is a product of Listers worst fears. So his idea of what a world like this would be like is what Lister thinks it would be, complete with corruption at every level.

Date: 2006-11-30 01:16 am (UTC)That was the idea - he finds out where Kochanski got the water, panics - and then, hey, there's Ace! He grasps at that straw, and to calm himself, cleans - with the contaminated water. Later, after some shaggity, Kochanski finds out what's wrong, fixes Kryten, and hacks into Rimmer's light bee. We figure it's not as outre as a perfectly measured inhaled dose of lithium. ;)
Yes, I do like what Kat did with the character of Sebastian vs. Lister. It's an interesting dynamic.
And as far as cleaning for therapy - Kryten does that a lot in the later series, which is odd, to me, in light of how Lister acted in "Kryten," chastising Rimmer for treating Kryten like his only joy is in cleaning.

Date: 2008-06-15 02:58 am (UTC)I felt that the Back to Reality universe was well thought through, and the characterisation of Rimmer~Billy, in particular, was excellently done. Ditto Jake Bullet and the lovely reveal of his previous life and the reason he’d been rehabilitated. I read the fic all at once and it certainly kept me hooked all the way through; I was intrigued to see why they were in the BtR universe and how they would get out of it, and the suspense you built up around that was very effective.
If you don’t mind some con-crit, there were a couple of little things that tripped me up when I was reading. One of them was the first POV change over from Ace to Kryten – I initially read it as Ace suddenly speaking from outside himself! I saw your response to another person’s comment about it and I can see your justification, but for what it’s worth, I thought I’d mention that I also stumbled on that. Once I’d keyed in to the fact that the POV switching worked that way in the fic, I read the rest of it fine, so I think the confusion was a product of that first switch being so unexpected. The other thing that surprised me a little was the ending; as a purely subjective point, it seemed strange to me to close a really long and dedicated Rimmer/Lister fic by way of some surprise Cat/Kochanski. I thought that there was a really powerful image of Rimmer and Lister safe and together, as themselves, which was the destination your story was underlyingly moving towards throughout, and that image ended up being a bit diluted by the sudden side-story of C/K…
Nevertheless, as I said, the fic was an engaging read, and in respect of exploring the Sebastian~Lister fascist angle – it didn’t really go near the points that we were talking of before, but it was really interesting to see the character fleshed out some more and to hear Sebastian’s back-story and the mapping of his relationship with Billy. Nice work!
