I really loved that story. I read all of your stuff in a short period of time, and I didn't comment on it because it just seemed kind of weird to comment on something that was posted so long ago. Maybe that's just me? Anyway, I thought the pleading Rimmer having such an effect over Lister's conscience was beautifully done. It's typical that Lister has this ordeal of right versus wrong compounded by his need to make Rimmer happy going on internally at moments like this, and Rimmer just doesn't get it, bless him. It's like he forgets that Lister is capable of such subtle, complicated thoughts.
