Hello, I'm new. Not new to Red Dwarf, by any stretch of the imagination, but new here.
To commemorate my joining of this community please allow me to present you with a fic that I'm not overly proud of. Aren't I nice. I suspect I can't write Red Dwarf, but still... nothing ventured nothing gained.
Title: Not Quite Sex or Death, But Almost as Bad.
Author: roses_are_a_weed
Rating: NC-17/ADULT/FRAO
Warnings: I’m not sure really. Angst? Mild noncon also I suppose, considering the situation.
Pairing: Lister/Rimmer, but not exactly in a romantic sense. A slight hint of Kryten/Lister, Cat/Lister too, perhaps.
Disclaimer: As I am not a delusional lunatic I do not believe that Red Dwarf or any of its characters are mine, nor do I expect to make any profit from this work of rather poor fiction.
Summary: Things are dire on Starbug, of course Kryten (in a stroke of complete brilliance) has decided to hide this fact from the two living members of the crew, unfortunately things rapidly get out of control, leaving them in a situation that is, perhaps somewhat more dire than the one they were in before… and a whole lot more embarrassing.
Spoilers: Er… probably bits and pieces from every season until seven (especially Out of Time) as well as the books, though probably not The Last Human, as I only read that once and it was a very long time ago.
Notes: Ok, this is set in a parallel universe. I say this because everything is the same until the end of Out of Time, where things veer off in another direction instead of continuing on like they did in the series. So, yes, parallel universe. Also, I split it up into nice little bits, it’s mainly from Rimmer’s perspective, but part two is from Lister’s.

Date: 2007-12-29 04:41 am (UTC)It was great so knock off the false modesty. It's an internets rule that only crap gets huge numbers of reviewers, so I wouldn't expect much in that regard. Let your excellence be the snuggly muse that keeps you writing.
The last installment was very hot and it was hilarious throughout.
What is it about this fandom that brings out the LEET SK1LZ?

Date: 2007-12-29 04:23 pm (UTC)It's been such a long time since I first watched and read Red Dwarf I think that, in a way, I am more nervous about writing Red Dwarf fanfic that I am about writing for other fandoms, so its good to hear that you enjoyed it. I am pretty sure that I'll write more.
I think that smaller, obscure, older fandoms sometimes have better writers and artists because they don't necessarily attract the younger, flightier people that are more attracted to the *cool* fandoms.

BTW, I know what you mean about 'cool' fandoms. I enjoy a lot of anime, but I've never really gotten involved in any anime fandoms.
