For some reason, part 3 of Proximity is being stubborn, so while sitting looking at an empty screen, this dribbly drabbly piece emerged. 100 words even.
Ghost
100 words
Lister/Rimmer slash if you squint.
Ghost
100 words
Lister/Rimmer slash if you squint.
No such thing, Lister reminded himself. If Krissie was awake she would laugh, or think him crazy. She slept soundly next to him, unaware. He still had the nightmares. Still thought he saw flashes of things that weren’t there. Still heard the hum of a life extinguished, reborn through circuitry and light.
What is a ghost, after all? The image or sensation of a loved one, passed on, intangible. Hologram.
Maddening.
Lister closed his eyes tighter and pulled the covers over his head.
“Go away, smeghead,” he whispered, hearing a hum that wasn’t there. Guiltily he added, “…or come back.”
