Summary: 100 words sometime post-"SMAC" and "Ouroboros" in Series VII, some Rimmer self-righteousness with hints of het and slash.

Good Europa, what had happened to Lister? Ace knew this version was a hologram, that a certain amount of his existence owed to how well he kept Kochanski company, but he couldn’t believe how utterly “off” this Lister – no, Dave – seemed. Clean, cultured, coiffed?

Imagine changing who you are just to please the person you’re in love with, Ace scoffed, powering Wildfire away from the alt-Starbug. “How pathetic can a guy-” Glancing out at the black of space, he caught his still fairly-new bewigged, bacofoiled reflection.

That night, Rimmer ditched the wig and flight suit, and started designing his own.

I don't mind saying I think I was inspired by the story where another post-Rimmer Ace finds holo-Lister and takes him to find Kochanski - I don't remember if you and roadstergal both wrote it or just her, but my brain for a while has been playing with "what would a hologram Rimmer think of hologram Lister as presented? And just for fun, how can I make it totally hypocritical?" LOL. I'm glad you liked it!

LOLOL - well, I can tell you from my co-writer's brain, something plainer than bacofoil. How did she describe it ... dark brown velour trousers, the black jack boots, a dark green shirt, and old battered brown leather jacket. With no wig. *G*

I think it'd be HILARIOUS and I hope somebody writes a longer version sometime. (I have an idea about a post-"Last Human" fic involving Lister, Kochanski, and McGruder, but am rather lazy about writing it, plus I need to finish reading the damn book first, LOL.)
