A/N: I’m sorry, it happened. It was bugging me. ‘Identity Within’ didn’t help (though this is set in Series 5). Hooray for painfully canon storylines. Boo for agonisingly short fics.
Title: Mid-Morning
Summary: The values of rest...
Rating: PG
With the gentle humming of 2050’s classics melding together with the shouts of Rimmer further down the hallway as he berated the Skutters for purposely lengthening his exercise time, it was all Lister could do to stay awake as he lay in his bunk, staring at the ceiling.
“Ah... heaven...” Clasping his hands across his chest, he stretched slightly, enjoying the pleasure of small comforts, everyday thoughts of smoking, drinking or even eating curry set aside as he tilted his head to the side, his eyelids drooping.
He knew Cat had entered the room when he heard the clattering of the Cuban heels. He knew when the clattering momentarily stopped that Cat was looking at him, studying him for signs of movement. As Lister heard the coat rustle, and heard Cat come to a stop next to the bunk, he only showed any sign of acknowledgement when Cat leaned down, one hand rubbing Lister’s forehead and brushed his lip’s over the human’s. Smiling slightly as his eyes slowly opened again, Lister allowed Cat to kiss him gently as the feline sat on the bunk next to him, grinning at the conquest.
“Hi.”
Cat beamed down at him, obviously relishing the human’s notice. “Hi.”
“What’s your plan for the day?” Lister regarded the feline somewhat lazily. The feline answered by promptly resting his head atop Lister’s torso, his folded arms forming a cushion as his own eyes drifted shut. Lister shrugged, rubbing Cat’s shoulder before snuggling back into his pillow.
Now this was heaven.
