Summary: For the sake of argument, let’s assume Rimmer keeps his solid form until they leave the psi-moon’s orbit. Let’s assume furthermore that when this takes place, Starbug is still in the moon’s orbit. Okay?!

~ An invitation impossible to refuse ~

It was not until much later, they were in their bunks, that Lister suddenly announced into the artificial darkness, “I meant it, you know.”

Rimmer needed a moment to catch up, and Lister felt compelled to elaborate, “When I told you, you’re loved. You are.”

In an instant, Rimmer was out of his bed and stood next to Lister’s – their faces inches apart.
“Why?”, he demanded.

Instead of an answer, Lister leaned forward and kissed him.

“What was that for?”

Lister shrugged. “For almost losing you, I guess.”

He lifted the corner of his duvet by way of an invitation.
