I don't know if anyone here peruses fandomsecrets, but I find it great fun to skim through.

Well, it wasn't me. I've never had any problem with the fact that I find Dave adorable. :) (It was a little depressing to me to hear that Craig Charles is not as nice.)

It's always easier to like the art than the artist. For one, the art can become a closed canon that eventually doesn't change, so you know what you're getting; a real live person doesn't lose the capacity for doing stupid things until they die. Plus, if you like a fictional bad guy, you generally have lots of good company, LOL.

Hee, "scuzzy." That's a great adjective, terribly underused, especially in Lister fics.

I wouldn't want to do Lister or Rimmer myself, but I find the thought of them together very attractive.

I should probably have added that I find that pairing attractive in every way - the way they throw barbs at each other, the (IMO) underlying affection etc, not just the thought of them in bed.

Yes, sexuality is complex. Maybe I shouldn't label myself, but WTH, it's how I feel most comfortable describing myself.

Back on topic, the only reason I can think of to be embarrassed about liking Lister is his alleged lack of personal hygiene. But I've always thought that was exaggerated. Yes, he's scruffy, but he clearly washes regularly, his teeth look clean and we even see him floss in "Ouroboros". And that's before Kochanski comes on the scene.

I think he plays up his alleged slobbiness to annoy Rimmer. We hear about it a lot more than we actually see it.
