Does this Com have an official stand on posts after the eps air UK.

As far as I'm aware, no US television station has paid to show the 'Dwarf state side and *ahem* less...legal means of aquiring British television usually take around 24 hours to become apparent.

Obviously, some people will want to avoid spoilers, others not so much (thinking of [livejournal.com profile] kms726 here) but would non-UK fans want confirmation - i.e something along the lines of 'ZOMFG, worth the wait!' and such like?

Speaking for myself, I expect not to be coherent for several hours days afterwards. I expect the boyfriend may need to poke me down from the ceiling with a broom...

...but I would love to post something poorly written and overly excitable after eps air.

Guidance?

As a fellow Brit, I've been wondering about this too. I know several overseas people who are dying to watch and discuss the eps ASAP, but perhaps not everyone feels like this if they don't think they'll be able to access them immediately.

Doug has tweeted that the series will be aired simultaneously worldwide, so it's just a question of which channel shows it e.g. which PBS stations in the US. The DVD will also be available worldwide on the same date, which is currently given on pre-order sites as 19th November, although that's apparently subject to change.

Not officially. October 4th has been heavily hinted at though. ;)

I would want to see the show as immediately as I could, and would probably hold off in looking at the com until I saw it. But I hope I wouldn't have to wait more than a day and miss out on all the discussion!

I keep checking my local PBS station for listings--no luck yet. But I'm highly optimistic KCTS Seattle will pick up the series, since they've hosted telethons with the cast and were the ones who broke the news about Back to Earth. If they're doing something along similar lines this time, I'll be the first in line to volunteer at the station XD

I'd like to hear general feedback about the series, like "Worth the wait" or general excitement. At this point I don't mind being told how much I'll love something, but I'll want to watch and find out for myself. I'll avoid the internet until it airs over here and then leap straight into any discussions going on here! :)

I've contacted my PBS station (KETC) twice. The first time they said "Thank you for your inquiry. No decision about Red Dwarf as been made." The second time I got this: If the new series is airing this fall in the UK, it won’t be possible for us to acquire it until they have completed their run—probably early next year. If the series does become available, we will certainly give it consideration.

So either they haven't been contacted, or they have to lie to us until the series is announced. This didn't sound promising for me, however, and I thought we were a top 20 market *sigh*

I hate to do it, but I'm getting RDX any way I can. I'll buy the DVD as soon as it's available, but I'm already avoiding a lot of posts to avoid spoilers/titles.

I think a spoiler cut is probably obvious, but beyond that, I don't know what to ask for. I'm fairly sure if there's a will, my roommate will find a way to view the episodes close to when they broadcast.

But here's the problem from my POV: People who see it right away will get on here and there will be big long discussion posts, and that's a great thing, but ... by the time those of us on a delayed watch come along to participate in those posts, y'all will have gotten bored and moved on to another post or day, or not be reading those entries anymore to see what comments we might have to add. So I feel this is going to result in 18 entries about "Lemons," for example, as yet later people come along and post anew in order to try to get the entire community's attention (and I don't blame them for doing it). Does this make sense?

I see what you mean. It's a shame posting in threads doesn't bump them to the top of the page on this site.

Would a sticky post for all new eps discussion help or would that be hopelessly unmanageable? Maybe one for each ep? Sorry mods, it's just a thought. :)

Do you mean the "track" function? That works for paid users (well, it works for free users too, except a free account only allows for so many sticky-pins). Tags would likely be helpful for people coming along behind, but I'm less fussed about a johnny-come-lately being unable to catch up, than I am about those who've already had the conversation being able to see newly added comments. :-/

She's talking about stickies, like what you can do on your own personal journal. Like one post that never moves. I've got four or five that are always on the main page of my journal. Mine are predated about for 2029-2030, though so they don't get bumped off the front page of my journal.

Yes, I meant a sticky post at the top of the main page, with the number of comments listed so it would be harder to miss new ones. People could also track it if they wanted.

I agree with this, As I will likely have to wait for DVD to see it.

I think an LJ cut and spoiler warnings should be sufficient.
I've always found comm members to be pretty good about flagging spoilers - I've managed to stay completely spoiler-free for RDX (so far!)

As one of the people that will need to... wait a little longer... could you please do spoiler cuts? <3 Just 'cause it'll appear on my friend page and all. If people plan to not use cuts, then I guess I'll remove it from my list for a while. u.u But yeah, cuts are pretty sufficient!

All I want is for someone to be superdooperawesomely kind and upload the episodes somewhere where us humble non-UK residents can download them.

Otherwise I'll just have to wait until the DVDs come out, which shouldn't be long. In the meantime, I'm okay with everything, PROVIDED people put it all under a cut, so I can choose not to read it.

Thanks!
