AU after “Holoship.” Rimmer is unhappy after his stint on the Enlightenment, and Lister is the only person he can confide in.
Sorry, not much romance (and definitely no porn) in this chapter, but it'll get there.

OT: I'm getting LASIK on Thursday! Here's hoping/praying nothing goes wrong, because writing/reading fic might be difficult if my retinas fall out or whatever...

Very promising start. :) The aftermath of "Holoship" is ripe for this kind of fic, but I haven't seen it explored that much. (Then again, I haven't read every het or gen fic out there.)

And as someone currently writing Series V Rimmer/Lister myself, I'm wondering how you'll handle the soft-light issue. ;)

I just found this story (http://archiveofourown.org/works/78400), which explores the aftermath for Nirvanah. Totally headcanon now. But yeah, it bothers me that Rimmer in canon is basically unaffected by what happened on Holoship, hence this fic. :)

Awww, poor Nirvanah. She does make an appearance in MissFlibble's epic Rimmer-as-Ace series and reunites with Rimmer. Only temporarily atm though.

Btw if you haven't got round to that series yet, I highly recommend it. One of the best het / gen RD fics I've read. Pulse-poundingly dramatic in places. :)
