Title: Silver
Rating: PG
Summary: He couldn’t keep his eyes off it. A tribute to something small in Series 5.
Silver
He couldn’t keep his eyes off it. No matter how hard he tried, no matter how many times he tried to resist, no matter how much he tried to think of something, anything else, there was no denying how utterly, extremely and unhealthily obsessed Lister was with that single silver streak standing out against Cat’s black hair.
The feline obviously knew the human was staring at him, but he kept his eyes to the ground. However, had he looked up, he would have seen anything but that cold, hard look that the human had first given him as soon as the spinal implant’s power had worn down and he was free to escape the Cat’s control. They had been standing here in the corridor for twenty minutes now, the Cat by one of the windows, and Lister by the door leading into the stasis-booths and neither of them had spoken, or shouted. Lister just stared and Cat stood.
Think of… Skutters. Yeah, Skutters. Think of Bob’s ill-fated attempt to impersonate Rod Stewart at the last mechanic karaoke.
…
… But how the SMEG did he get that streak into his hair – and how come it’s so straight?
Snorting slightly, angrily, Lister finally brought his foot down from against the wall. Cat glanced up as he stalked across, and squeezed his eyes shut slightly, bearing his incisors for any blows that might be coming his way in the next ten seconds.
Aware and amused by the look on the feline’s face as he pulled him closer by the shoulders, Lister mumbled against his forehead, You get away with almost anything and then kissed him firmly on the lips, one of the arms that was now back under his own control sliding down to the felis sapien’s waist and squeezing him tightly, whilst the other hand ran a path over the silver streak that now no longer ran a straight-arrow course across Cat’s hair.
Fin.

Date: 2006-02-25 06:51 pm (UTC)You write the kind of Cat/Lister I can believe in, even as a Lister/Rimmer shipper. :)
And some great scutter imagery!
